Spoiler: Sun wins, but you don't care.

Race the Sun, a thrilling, yet strangely relaxing, high speed chase through beautiful otherworldly abstract landscapes, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the first week.

In Race the Sun, an abstract arcade racing title, you'll be doing exactly what the title suggests: flying towards the elusive horizon at extreme speeds. Maneuver your-lightning fast glider among obstacles as you pass them at impossible speeds, and take in all the beautiful sights and sounds this title has to offer. It's a meditative experience, that keeps you hooked by offering unlockable upgrades for your progress, and tracks your times against your friends' scores. The game comes with a built-in world editor, so you'll be able to create some amazing scenery yourself, and share them online. With sleek visuals and mesmerizing soundtrack, this title will have you both relaxed and excited, not to mention hooked to the screen from the first time you play it.

They say that the chase is much more important and gratifying than the goal itself. See that for yourself in Race the Sun, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 50% off launch discount offer lasts until Tuesday, November 12, at 10:59AM GMT.
This is a great game for playing in short bursts once-twice a day. Feeling of speed is amazing, levels are different each day (if I understand it correctly) and 5$ price is great. Too bad about the soundtrack... :/

But still I would recommend it to anyone. Also there is an older version on kongregate I think so you can try it.

spagbol: It's an excellent little 'just one more go' game. Bought it a while back out of sympathy for the dev after their interview on game sales.

Didn't need to buy it out of sympathy, it turned out. The game stands up on its own...
This is the interview I believe:

Looking at the trailer, I think you can get a good idea of the gameplay from the free version. It doesn't have all the content and polish, but the basic gameplay and atmosphere are there. It's surprisingly immersive.

DeMignon: I do love indies, but I also appreciate GOG to separate the wheat from the chaff. This game looks more like Desura to me.
it got greenlit by steam, I think
great game, GOG
Looks quite interesting.

Still, the game doesn't look like it can deliver. But I've never played it, it's just my first impression and probably a matter of taste. But hey, that's what a discussion thread is there for.

EDIT: ... and it even isn't on Desura.

The free version is like one of those classic endless arcade fliers, except there's no stream of enemies to shoot. There's a powerful feeling of isolation as the sun goes down. Give it a try before passing judgment.
Look! It received a great score on gamespot

Now EVERYONE has to buy it :)
Hm. There's an interesting discussion by the game developer on how this game has performed so far (not well at all); releasing it on GOG seems to be a desperation move that they hope will allow them to limp along until they can get Greenlit on Steam.
They're already greenlit though, so they shouldn't need to limp any longer.

Alfie3000: Reminds me of the Star Fox game on the SNES.
That is exactly what I thought. Not exactly a positive comparison considering this is 2013. I understand the developer probably didn't have much resources, but flat shaded polygons seems dated even for indies.
You know, when I read the description, I didn't know what to expect of this game. From the way it worded, the title, the thought that came to mind was a tiny shit blasting its way through cosmic debris, attempting to escape the pull and expansion of a collapsing sun wearied by eternity of unceasing hydrogen burning, the heat shimmering off your ship as it follows behind you as you attempt to escape, the last of your kind seeking the last possible visages of life that could be gleamed.

But then I'm an odd one. Looks interesting.
Those that have actually played it seem to really enjoy it. Although I can understand how the heavily polygonal landscape is putting some people off before they've even tried it. It does remind me a bit of Starfox after all.
Read a review for this game in the Polish gaming mag CD-Action (well, with only one gaming mag left here I should probably just say "the Polish gaming mag" :P). They gave the game a lot of praise. It's a little sad, the game seems to be really great but with its style and premise it probably won't ever attract as many people as would enjoy it.
I must say, I really dig the minimalist style, and the trailer on the gamecard sure makes it look like a game I'd quite enjoy playing. Just mulling over whether my pretty much spent monthly gaming fund can take another little hit.

That's not a bad thing at all in my book. I love the original Starfox. ;)
Very nice game, it reminds me old 8bit "Stealth" mixed with Starfox.
