There’s Pandemonium in the crowds!

When a young sorceress, a court jester, and a demented stick-puppet get hold of the ancient wizard spellbook titled "Ancient Wizards Spellbook", use of which "May result in danger and death", you can expect [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/pandemonium]Pandemonium on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Pandemonium is a 2,5D platform game: the player can move in two dimensions but in a full 3D environment, which is displayed from all types of perspectives and angles to give the game a dynamic look. Before each level, player can select a character: the sorceress Nikki who can double-jump, or Fargus the joker, who can deliver a special spinning attack by throwing his talking stick-puppet called Sid. Later, you'll also gain access to fireballs or shrink- and freeze-rays. Apart from that, you can expect everything you remember from ‘90s platformers: many difficult levels, incredibly impressive boss-fights, collecting coins and hidden prizes, and a ceaseless wave of enemies.

Pandemonium came out in the heyday of platformers, in the times of Crash Bandicoot, Earthworm Jim, Jazz Jackrabit, and Gex--which was developed by the creators of Pandemonium. It was a time when gaming was simple but challenging and brilliantly entertaining. And that’s what Pandemonium is: plain good platforming fun that, thanks to 3D graphics and camera movement, is also a fast-paced vertigo-inducing romp.

Pandemonium is top-notch old-school platforming for only $5.99 only on GOG.com.

aluinie: Nice release although i suck at platformers (as my attempts to play alice shows i die a lot) so think ill passs on this one.
I think one thing I actually liked about Pandemonium was that while the graphics were 3D, the gameplay was totally 2D. It made the game much more linear than 3D platformers where you can freely roam around, but also maybe easier to manage, at least if you are not that familiar with platformers.
GOG once again you surprise me and bring a game I was thinking about .. come on now keep going you can guess more Good Old Games we want ;)
Nice release. :)

Little known fact: This game was designed by Paul Reiche III (Archon, Star Control 1+2) and coded by Fred Ford (Star Control 1+2). While it has little to do with these earlier releases, I still recommend having at look at these two geniuses' take at the platformer genre! :)

Edit: The game's infocard mentions that Pandemonium was developed by the creators of "Geck". I don't think this is true. For one, I don't know a game called "Geck", and think that the author of the text probably meant Gex 3d ("Enter the Gecko"). Second, while both games were apparently developed by Crystal Dynamics, the teams working on them were different. Pandemonium was developed by Reiche/Ford, Gex was developed by Evan Wells.

Wonderful release, GOG! It works flawlessy with 3Dfx and XBox360-Controller for Windows, I'm really very excited! Thank you! Any chance for the manual?

SLP2000: Never heard about it.
I haven't heard of either of today's releases. They look fascinating though :)
Played this on PsOne along time ago , very good platformer , wishlisted :)
wheee - another platformer, and it is a good one. This goes onto the shelf to look at later.

I have not tried the PC version before, but if it very close to the PSX version then it is highly recommended to those who like these kind of games.
Just one word: Instabuy! :)
------------------------------------
Unfortunately, there are no goodies included :(

Instabuy, nonetheless.

PS: Oh, yes...almost forgotten...the second part, too - please! ;)

I seriously didn't expect to see this game here. Thank you very much!
I already see the anger, frustration and table punching like it was yesterday. I hope Pandemonium 2 makes it here as well.
Great release I remember playing this on the PS1 ages ago

But...why is there not a single piece of Bonus content? that's a real bummer

xbeanx3000: I don't know much about this but is this a software version or 3dfx version?
It's the 3dfx version, splash screen with 3dfx logo included.

Do the CG cutscenes work or are they freezing up like GOG's version of Tomb Raiders 2 & 3?
My childhood! :D
I remember playing a demo of the PS1 version long ago, seemed an okay game. I knew Crystal Dynamics made it, but I wasn't sure if Square-Enix or even Eidos got the rights to it. (don't think Eidos published the original release.)
