Brandon, I have your saw!

Legend of Kyrandia, an unforgettable, classic point-and-click adventure game packed with wondrous locations, mythical creatures, and downright evil sense of humor, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Welcome to the wonderful kingdom of Kyrandia, a land of astounding beauty, home to countless enchanted creatures and spellbinding locations. Alas, dark clouds gather on the horizon: Malcolm, the court jester, has done something terrible and the magical realm will never be the same again. Unless you, Prince Brandon, can achieve the impossible and outfox the demented joker. Remember when adventure games challenged you to beat them, without cutting you any slack? Remember when you had to draw a location map not to get lost in the maze, or were wary of crossing a funny-looking bridge, in fear of falling to a terrible death? Legend of Kyrandia, in all its classic charm and glory, is the epitome of those games.

Legend of Kyrandia is one of the gems of the classic adventure games era. First in the series of three titles, it established the original setting of Kyrandia, a land of unparalleled beauty, and, at the same time, menacing dangers. Celebrated for its unique tone of mischievous humor and inventive quests, it has also been considered a milestone in adventure games evolution. The game introduced innovative elements to the genre, with extremely simple interface and creative use of inventory items. It also made you suffer and die in many imaginative ways (one of them including a particularly charming slasher smile and a very sharp saw).

Prepare for some old-school questing and lose yourself (literally) in a perilous kingdom of Kyrandia, get Legend of Kyrandia, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

Rosstifer1712: Just wondered, if the 2 other Kyrandia games get released on GOG, will we see Blade Runner afterwards?
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that game is in copyright limbo. We'll see it the same day we will see the LOTR games, i.e. likely never.
OMG, thank you so much! Been waiting for long for this one.
Hope the sequel's not far behind!
Awesome sauce! Another Westwood game. More Westwood games, pretty please, with a cherry on top ;p

Oldschool approves this message :)

mistermumbles: It's about fucking time, GOG! =P I find it a bit odd though that GOG didn't release it for Mac as well whether in DOSBox or ScummVM (or whatever GOG decided to use for this one).
I'm thinking the guy who packages (or at least started the packaging) of Mac versions, the same person who created the excellent DOSBox port Boxer, seems to either have lost interest in the project or real life has gotten in the way. There hasn't been a new Boxer release since July 2012 and he has not posted to the blog on the Boxer website since December 2012.

The packaged Mac versions on GOG are a stripped down version for ease of use and no configuration required. But the full version of Boxer is so easy to use and config anyway.

And I actually have a complaint today! I think The Legend of Kyrandia "box" on the main page should be the large one, not Cognition.
Not familiar with this. But more Westwood is always a good sign. I'd imagine that the delay in C&C's arrival is down to pricing and bundling more than anything.

Cognition was officially released after Kyrandia.
Another westwood game? Now we just need Eye of the Beholder... which will probably never happen. Then again, I said the same thing about Wizardry and SS2.
Yay, Kyrandia is here! Now I know I'll die a happy man. Eventually, of course.
Excellent release.
I played this game so many times as a kid I'm pretty sure I could beat it in 15-30 minutes today, knowing what I still know. The only tricky part was maybe the dark maze.
Great news! (:D)
I have such good memories with this game and the sequel "The Hand Of Fate" (although, I never had the opportunity to play the third game "Malcom's Revenge").
Trivia: if you own the CD version of LoK 3, you might already own LoK 2.

There is a folder on the CD version of Legends of Kyrandia 3 called /HOF which contains the Legends of Kyrandia 2: Hand of Fate. At one time I owned all 3 games, as I bought them in the order they were released. I eventually sold off 1 and 2 but kept 3. Then a few years ago I read in an old gaming magazine about the "bonus game" on the LoK3 disk, and sure enough it was there on mine.

So hopefully when GOG sells #3, they'll bundle it with #2 as well.

So were the games released by Night Dive Studios - but they're here! Night Dive seems to focus on games that are in copyright limbo and get them released. Don't lose hope.
