A spell-slinging, platform-jumping classic.

Hocus Pocus, a magical old-school platformer, is available right now on GOG.com for only $5.99.

A young would-be magician cleverly named Hocus Pocus needs your help! To become a real wizard and claim the heart of his sweetheart Popopa he needs to embark on a long and dangerous journey ordered by the chief wizard Terexin. You will control Hocus while he collects magical crystals, operates levers and elevators, discovers secret rooms, gathers treasures, and does other platformy and magicky stuff on 36 levels spread across four worlds.

Not sold on Hocus Pocus yet? Here's how the game was advertised almost 20 years ago:
"The dazzling animation in Hocus Pocus delivers unparalleled variety. After every two levels of play, graphics, background, and enemies change completely! Add multiple theme songs and multi-channel sound effects, and you have a game that's pure delight to your ears as well as your eyes!
Now, ain't that impressive?

Delve into a delightfully old-school VGA world of Hocus Pocus and destroy the evil dragons, demons and whatnot for only $5.99
Nice release. I remember playing a demo of this off one of those big compilation CD-ROMs back when CD media seemed special.

Wishlisted.

Zacron: Does this mean that we can expect more Apogee Games soon? Like BioMenace or Secret Agent Man?
FYI Bio Menace is Freeware, though I guess it could get the same GOG treatment as other freeware games here.

I know it is freeware, but so are several releases we have here, like the Worlds of Ultima games, Teen Agent, and what have you. But if GOG is working with Apogee, then I would really love to see games like BioMenace get the GOG treatment, custom DOSBox Wrapper, Icons, all that good stuff.

Yes, BioMenace is really fun. It should be here as a freebie.

tinyE: XIII was goven plenty of notice and that's the only big pull I've been here for. I bought it instantly.

That sounded really dirty.
Cryostasis was pulled but that was different
Don't know this game, but I'm glad to see another mid 90s Apogee game here. I'm still hoping to see Wacky Wheels here.

kalirion: Size has NOTHING to do with it.

But a simple platformer like this one should be using the new $3.99 price point and/or be bundled with something else.

Reever: I know, but it's just about the technology and the resources needed back then. That's why I can't see how a platformer or such an old game can cost as much as game made 20 years later. Of course, there's still quality etc., but how good a game is is mostly subjective (except if there are glaring gameplay and/or plot issues).

And I agree with your last sentence there, I think that should do it.

@ Ric1987 & others: Explained what I meant with that above ^^
Yes, but what it took for a game to be released 20 years ago wouldn't impact it's price now. It would impact what the price was then. I don't see sales for such an unknown game increasing much by dropping the price by 2 bucks. The main draw is going to be the few that are nostalgic for it and want it now to make much profit. Those who are saying that 6 is too much apparently don't want the game much anyway and can wait for a sale. I am in the boat of probably waiting for a sale, mostly because I haven't even picked up System Shock 2 or Leisure Suit Larry yet.

Damn, I didn't notice Cryostasis was pulled. It wasn't even here a full year.

Oh yes! One of the very few racers that were actually fun.
This is fucking great. I'll be buying this and playing it this weekend, this game is such a nostalgia trip to me.
Oh I had the old demo version of this on a floppy disc, way back when. Bought it for nostalgic reasons and because the main character looks like Ralph Wiggum.
This is literally the first PC game I ever played :D
I'm happy to see it here, thanks guys!
Awesome news! I love the old Apogee games, i grew up on many of them.Would love to see more of them on GOG like Alien Carnage, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Monster Bash, Crystal Caves and Secret Agent. All great old games. Thanks again GOG for the nostalgia rush :D
Thanks guys. I remember being addicted to this game back in the day (of course I only had the shareware version). Hope to see more great Apogee games make it to GOG.
