Race through the odd odds.

Vangers, a classic quirky original mash-up of a racing game, an RPG, and a shooter, giving you freedom to explore a vast sandbox of a strange and surprising gameworld, is available on GOG.om, for only $5.99.

Vangers is a mixture of various, yet consistent gameplay components. The player enters the strange world of the future, emerged as a result of the clash between humankind and another intelligent race of creatures, and now living according to its own rules. The world challenges for the quest. With a big sandbox of a world to explore and shape, multiple endings and open gameplay, and over 70 mods to customize one of the 30 available "cars", this little-known classic will keep you entertained for hours!

Embrace the wheel of your vehicle and the disturbing strangeness of the late-1990s artistic vision in Vangers, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

What the hell am I looking at!? :P

Seriously, I can't make heads or tails of those screen shots. XD

amok: Interestingly, and as a side note, I think Vangers is the only classic so far that have had a Steam release before gOg? it is actually right now one of the games in the Indie Royal Parachute Bundle - http://www.indieroyale.com/
I doubt it was the only one. Rune Classic was also released on Steam before GOG and depending on whether you consider 10 years to be old enough for a classic, Hitman: Contracts counts too.

Ah, yes. Off course, I forgot about Rune. Not sure I would count HItman games, as they had more of an organic release there, not as a re-release as classics.

Read the crapshoot Fever_Discordia posted in the first post. It is a very good review and description of the game :)

Btw, I think GoG has exclusive in-game feature atm, "permanent terraforming". This feature is not available on Steam, or anywhere else atm. :)

Russians and Eastern Europeans tend to make the weirdest and most interesting games... I'll gladly buy this!

Erich_Zann: The other games look like derivative shit though.

Impaler26: Indeed but that's very fitting as Vangers looks like shit too. :D
[Chuck Testa] Nope. [/Chuck Testa]
One of the craziest Russian games makes it to GOG. You want your mind blown - you play this game.
Yeah, this game is the first Grand Theft Auto on acid allright, I never could figure out who's who though.

For sure!
But Vangers is one of those where the hell do I go kinda game and that's totally awesome when you have something truly lacking these days: patience.

Erich_Zann: This looks definitely interesting. Russian games rarely disappoint when it comes to weirdness/inventivity.
besides Vangers, The Void and Pathologic, can you name a few more weird russian games?
thanks!

It's like Grand Theft Auto 1 meets Planescape Torment.

That "knock knock?" of yours seemed kinda intentional, like "knock knock? don't you know that space rangers is a weird russian game? Duh!"
:P

ps: Space Rangers is truly awesome!
I remember seeing the cinemaware label on a boxed copy here, some ten years ago, if I'm not mistaken... anyway, I'll vote for it :)

edit: that "pun" was so weak that even judas, the nicest fella around, didn't get it :(
