Have you ever been trapped in a nightmare?

Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a gripping first-person perspective horror story full of mystery, darkness, and demons lurking in the shadows inducing a constant sense of dread, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 only for the first 48 hours, to get your DRM-free copy!

Thousands of pages have been written on the anatomy of fear. It's one of the most basic emotions shaping the human psyche and dictating our actions. But how many of us actually know fear? Not the tingling sensation that something's wrong and you should be worried, but actual terror that's caused by constant, lethal, and very real, yet unfamiliar threat. This is a game that, according to many, comes as close to inducing that state, as possible for a computer game. Praised for its gripping atmosphere, perfect pacing, and involving gameplay, it's one of the most prominent--in not the most prominent--modern achievements in terror fiction.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in a situation with no escape and the only thing you can do is to push forward, deeper into the nightmare that's becoming more morbid and terrifying by the minute. You will find yourself exploring a half-ruined castle, that witnessed many acts of madness and inhumane cruelty. Deprived of all memories, hunted by spawns of evil, forced to behold sights that shatter your sanity, you will venture into the darkness with no real hope of ever emerging victorious. Mixing a fascinating story, terrifying setting, and well-executed design, this title deserves a place in every horror fan collection.

Are you ready to inject your mind with an excess dose of poisonous terrors? Empty your bladder, switch off the lights, put on your headphones, and throw yourself head-first into Amnesia: The Dark Descent, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 75% discount offer lasts until Saturday, July 27, at 9:59AM GMT.
This game was long on my internal wishlist...so now i own it.
Thanks GOG

nightrunner227: Personally, I recommend Tenebris Lake.
Thanks! I'll check it out this weekend.
I am too scared to buy and play it again. No, thanks :D

tfishell: In my earlier critical mindset, I didn't even think about how how much it was desired by the community. And lo and behold, there are nearly 1400 votes for it on the wishlist, even more than Brutal Legend. So I do need to say, well done in that regard, GOG.
It's climbing the best-selling list fairly quickly. And if my theory that the list is based on revenue rather than units sold is correct, that's all the more impressive.
I already have the physical copy which is DRM free (install>play without disc). But it's nice to see this game on here.
75% off the bat? GOG, you shouldn't have. Christmas came early!
What an awesome release! As a big fan of horror games I am so glad to see this one here. Alas, I have a copy of this game from elsewhere. I might just play this one again though, now that I'm thinking about it.

Novotnus: Anything you recommend?
I haven't played that many really and none of the post 2011 ones.

White Night, Followed By Death (Chapter One), The Attic (Chapter 1) and The Machine were good experiences, but this stuff is highly subjective.

I'd like to play the Memento one at some point - it sounds like inspired by the movie which I enjoyed a lot.
Please let there be an uninteresting weekend sale so I can buy this at such a good % off.
Yes I am cheep, money is tight and games are practically all I have until Uni begins again in October.

All of those look like interesting fan missions. Gotta play the main game and then I might try one of these.

Also, I am looking forward to release of Amnesia: Machine for Pigs. They are suspiciously quiet about this title. I hope releasing former Amnesia on GOG is herald of nearby release of Machine for Pigs, on GOG as well :)

White Night rings a bell for me, but I'm not entirely sure if I've played it or not. I stopped playing custom stories around that 6 month span where every new CS was a pewdiepie fangasm level.

HypersomniacLive: Just a quick reminder that there's a number of custom stories, mods and total conversions for Amnesia.
A good start is here.
Do you know if those can be played with the GOG version ? I don't see why they couldn't but I'd like to be sure.

The way custom stories are set up, I'm 100% sure custom stories are fine and 99% sure total conversion mods are too

I never expect a CS to bring something completely new to the table or to be a groundbreaking experience, after all they're just that, custom stories.
There are mods/ total conversions that play more like FPS and platformers, but there're not my cup of tea so can't comment on any of them.
Personally, I wouldn't go so far as to use the term pewdiepie fangasm - someone did put time, effort and commitment into making something for others' entertainment and by making their creation publicly available they put themselves out there to be "jugded". Even if I don't find the experience enjoyable myself, I can't overlook or dismiss the effort and commitment it took to be made.

As I said, this stuff is highly subjective.
