Hmm, as long as you're doing this simply for the hell of it, wouldn't it be feasible to re-use pumpkins? Meaning you could make one design on one side, and a different one on the other, provided they both took up less than half the pumpkin, so they'd be invisible from the other side. Or are you already doing that? It'd save you a bit of money on pumpkins, anyway.

Yeah, I've been using the pumpkins more than once. I've only actually carved 4 of them. :)

That one isn't even a real pumpkin, it's foam. I understand why people use foam pumpkins (cleaner, don't rot or smell) and yes, they can be a challenge to carve if the image is really intricate, but unless you have to scoop out three pounds of mushy crap from the inside it's just not the same!

Purely from a technical standpoint, I think that's your best yet. To carve so many small squares so perfectly cannot have been easy.
