Empire Rising

Moebius, a contemporary metaphysical adventure from the master storyteller Jane Jensen, the creator of Gabriel Knight and Grey Matter, is available 20% off for pre-order for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com. That's only $23.99 until April 15, when the game is expected to arrive. Pre-order now, and play the 2-chapter GOG.com exclusive demo while you wait for the release!

When a secretive government agency enlists Malachi Rector to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, he is left with nothing but questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him--a dealer of high-end antiques--to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come everytime Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Moebius is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost. This thrilling new adventure game from master storyteller Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, Gray Matter) and Phoenix Online Studios (Cognition, The Silver Lining) introduces Malachi Rector, an expert in antiquities whose photographic memory and eye for detail transform people and clues into interactive puzzles.

If you miss the times when adventure games were played mostly for the great and immersive storytelling, not just for the puzzles, humor, and views, be sure to pre-order Moebius for $23.99 on GOG.com. That's 20% off the full post-release price, and you'll get to set the mood for the game with the full soundtrack (MP3/FLAC), available instantly. You can also jump right in to action with the GOG.com-exclusive demo, covering the first two chapters of the game! The 20% off special pre-order discount offer lasts until April 15, when the game is set for launch.

RadonGOG: Any Beta-Testers that would recommend preordering it?

zavlin: Eh... its not a bad game. I wasnt real happy with the story conceptually. And the puzzles had issues (though that might be smoothed out for the final release). But it does have that "jane jensen" feel to it, and its a decent length game (maybe 8-10 hours), If youre a big fan you might as well grab it. Otherwise maybe wait for sales.
So it is kinda disappointing, huh?
I'm sure they'll fix the issues until release day
I tried the PC demo, but it has a lot of problem, most of them in the in the grafic compartment: first of all there isn't an exit game button, you have to reduce to icon the game then right click and close window, or use the task menager. Then some backgrounds has an awful resolution (as you can see in the screenshots) and Malachi's clotes has no details.Last, but not least, in the windowed mode the antialiasing is always off, no matter what you do in the setting pane, while in the fullscreen mode the antialiasing is always on.

I hope that the game will be better than that; in any case, I don't think that it was a good advertising....

Hey guys, I got a reply from Jane Jensen herself :o
Hi,

It does look like backers will be able to get either a steam or GOG key. Look for emails on Apr 14th to pick up your copy.

Cool, I was thinking of picking up a copy on whatever platform I didn't get the key for but hearing the odd negative comments I probably should give the demo a quick run through.

-- On another note it appears steam got Grey Matter released on 1st of April, so I wonder if we will soon see it here on GOG.

The main negative comments I've heard so far are that the 3D models and animations are terrible, but that much is evident just from the trailer/screenshots (I haven't played the demo), what I've heard of the story, characters and puzzles are actually positive. It seems to me that this game is actually trying to target an adult audience, with the philosophical themes, conspiracy plot, a snobby New Yorker who isn't exactly a likable guy as the protagonist, which you know is refreshing considering another whimsical and cartoon-y adventure game which I won't mention targeting children.

Luckily, I stopped worrying about whether things are "too childish" or "mature enough" when I grew up.

This is a graphics glitch on your system. The backgrounds do not look the way shown on your screenshots. Please note you can exit the game from the main menu. Open the menu, go to the main menu from there. On the main menu click onto "Quit".

About the graphic, you are right; it seems that there are some problem with the Catalyst Control Center.
For the "quit" problem, as you can see in the screenshot, I have no quit button on the main menu
