EDIT: We're sorry to inform you, that the release of this title has been postponed beyond the planned release time. Here's a message from the developer:

[i]Hi all,
Unfortunately, due to some last-minute snags, we will NOT be releasing at 1800 CEST today. There are some critical bugs in the latest version (one of which is also in yesterday's early access version) that affect, amongst other things, character voices and save-games.
We definitely do not want to release a potentially broken version to everyone on Steam, GOG and the Humble Store, and so we're working hard to fix these bugs before publishing the game.
Here's what can happen with our current, broken version:
• After loading an auto-save, you get stuck. This can be fixed by reloading the save-game, but that's not a great user experience, obviously.
• After switching the subtitles on or off, you lose the character voices. The voices come back again after a while, but this can ruin the experience of playing the game.
• Mac version crashes on load. This is a new bug, and shouldn't be too hard to fix, but it's obviously quite critical!
There are a couple of smaller bugs in addition to this, but those are the major ones. We're working on fixing them right now, and we don't think it's going to take too long, but we do have to run through the game multiple times on multiple computers before we can publish again. [...]
With any luck, it won't be a late evening at Casa Red Thread, but we will keep y'all updated!

Nicole28: Great pre-order! How many episodes are there planned in total?
As far as I remember from th eredthreadgames forum there will be 5 episodes.

Unfortunately it is again regional priced which for me means that it is unfair und not to support!

JudasIscariot: No pre-order exclusives, no :)
Yay! :D

Kudos to Red Thread Games for not taking that dark path.

Gonchi: They had a bunch of in-game content during the Kickstarter depending on your tier. Not sure you count those.
avatar
Starmaker: I just read through the kickstarter page -- I'm not seeing any kickstarter- or tier-limited in-game content. Extras, maybe, such as the audiobook, but not in-game stuff (quests, locations, puzzles, items, characters that aren't accessible for anyone but backers). Not having backed the kickstarter, ethics-wise I'm mostly concerned about the completeness and accessibility of the material offered on GOG compared to maximum possible accessibility of the material offered on GOG.

If someone, elsewhere, gets an audiobook, I'm fine with that -- it's a separate item which doesn't impact the relative completionism of my GOG account. If I pledged for it, I would've had it elsewhere. Not having pledged, I can theoretically get it elsewhere. GOG-wise, nothing changes. But if I have to pledge a certain amount or buy the game within a certain timeframe, or else my GOG product will be forever inferior to someone else's GOG product, that' a no-no. I love my collection, and I don't like when its completeness is held hostage and expanding the collection stops feeling like a rewarding experience.

So Dreamfall is fine with me. After my salary has been effectively cut by a quarter and my disposable income fared even worse, I even welcome the regional price.
I recall they did an update about in-game content and all hell broke loose. Maybe they changed their minds due to the backlash, dunno, I'd already decided I wasn't going to back them by that point so I didn't really follow developments.
No offense but I'd rather wait and see how it turns out, especially when I don't know when the remaining four episodes will release.
Finally after waiting for so long. I am glad I backed the project for 20 euro while it's now in store for 30. Means I got a 10 euro discount. :)
The extra content lists an artbook, soundtrack *or* short stories. Shouldn't that be *and*? I don't have to choose, do I?

Just bad wording. You get all the extras.

coldalarm: I'm kicking myself a bit. I dropped $75 on the pledge thing on their website last week.

Matruchus: Well its a good thing that you supported them that well but just to point out that this game was on gogs new and coming list for about a month now.
I'm fully aware of that, but it wasn't listed as a pre-order and I don't believe any pre-order details were announced. I know I went for a higher tier than the one this is based on, but still. Kinda just kicking myself a bit. If I'd known this is what the GOG version would be, I would have waited.

On the other hand, I get a few more bonuses and ones that do still interest me, so there is that.

I don't see the problem. That tier gets you a lot more extras than the ones offered to non-backers. The full art book and soundtrack and the e-books are exclusive to backers.

Edit: I see you noticed that yourself now.

With your higher pledge you're also supporting a very dedicated and passionate developer team in a way that will enable them to continue making "games with soul" for years to come (including a 4th game in the Longest Journey Saga, the Longest Journey Home). So, unless you're really going to miss the money spent, I think it's still worth it for those not-immediately-obvious future benefits.

I'm not too bothered, it was more of a "oh, drat!" moment, y'know? I'm fine supporting RTG and paying as much as I did, and all that, I'm just going "argh!" a little.
Looking forward to so many votes being marked as "completed".

That's cool then! I personally spent a *beep*ton of money during the Kickstarter, but that's one purchase that I don't regret* in the slightest! And I think I'll buy a few GoG copies of the game on top of it to gift to friends.

*as a character from a favorite novel of mine would say: "never regret about anything. If you regret too much you go mad."

I don't really understand that mindset. You should think of Kickstarter etc. as a way to support developers you like and trust, so they can create great games for you and others to play. If you don't think the developer and this project is worth the $75, then you shouldn't have spent that in first place. If you're just looking for the best deal, it's usually better to wait and buy the game some time after release. Ultimately there's always a better price, somewhere down the road, if you're willing to wait. So in the end it comes down to what this game is worth to you, personally.

( Not to go on and on about it -- I see a few others already responded to your post. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth. :P )

Edit: On a sidenote, this game looks really pretty for an ( Indie? ) Adventure game. What is the gameplay going to be like? Classic Adventure, except in full 3D? Maybe a bit like Nomad Soul?

Edit 2: Also, $=€ regional pricing. Yay! That's kinda... not cool. :/

For everyone who dont likes regional pricing (like me), still wants to get the game on GOG and wants to support the devs, today you still have the possibility to avoid RP.
