Longcat: Basically, all gog would have to do to make this work is to make their own working no cd patch for the dvd version.
So gog team, please contact me if you need any assistance. I know there is interest in the community for this, but your lack of interest in our progress so far has been somewhat disconcerting:P

Oldski: Thanks for sharing info about how you got it to work :)
We've been following the thread and discussing internally as well as when we can, we work on the DVD version. We did say it will take time and it's not a priority. About to be released games take priority.. there's lots to do :) But we haven't forgotten about this.
Someone from our team will comment when they can, that's the best we can do at the moment ;)

I currently own Overseer on CD/DVD.
I'd gladly pay $10 if GOG was able to package something together that will run properly on my vista computer without having to go through the hours of setup and tinkering described on this forum - I'm sure there are many others who would do the same.
Hopefully the recent price break and sales were enough to show GOG that interest in this project would be fruitful if the DVD version was ever released.

I'm guessing this project has fallen to the wayside for newer and better things :(

Yes, I know - major thread necro, but I thought I'd try to rekindle interest...

I'm interested, I love the Tex Murphy series.
Having bought all the Tex Murphy games in the recent sale this is something I'd definitely be interested in if the guys at GOG ever got the time.
Cmon you guys, give us the better version of the game.

If you would just release System Shock already then you'd probably have the time to spend getting the DVD version of this game to work.

;P

The DVD version is so finicky it's really hard to blame them for not offering it. I mean I know everyone wants the world, but sometimes the world is too much.

No argument here that it would be difficult to get it going, but the pluses of having the better quality video outweigh the minuses in my book. That series is near to many, so quite an achievement it would be if we could get it running.
DVD version of Overseer has several issues in new systems. Most annoying one includes the game just completely crashing at one point and no amount of sorcery did me any good, despite I previously managed to get through other almost game stopping crash.

I got 3/4 through the game before it crashed and giving up... one of the many reasons why I'd gladly pay GOG (even though I already have both the physical and GOG CD version) to release the DVD version so I could play all the way through...
bump
In light of this weekend's promo - bump this topic for the DVD version...

Good luck with that :p I remember it taking me days to get it to work and then it was pretty unstable. All because it was made at a time when DVDs relied on hardware-side decoding which meant your DVD drive had to contain the hardware to do so - I know a patch allowed for software decoding but it was always very flaky and I doubt GOG have t he know-how to create a proper patch for modern systems - this type of thing is pretty complex.

No argument here, but one can always hold on to hope.
DVD version would be nice!
