Finally, a new platformer on GOG.com! Or, to be more precise, one of the greatest titles the genre has ever seen!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/rayman_forever]Rayman is a 2D platformer game and the first title of a famous series that spawned sequels and spin-offs beyond count. The Forever edition, released by Ubisoft around 3 years after the original game, includes a bunch of goodies, most notably a level editor and Rayman By His Fans - 40 of the best staff-picked levels made with that very editor.
The game itself is a true platformer, with a strong emphasis on timing and reflex-based challenges, rather than combat. Its difficulty seems just right, in a way that makes you have to earn every level, but leaves you thoroughly satisfied afterwards.
Finally, Rayman still looks great, despite being over fifteen years old. This is mostly due to its amazing, fluid animations, but the game's high-color graphics and creative level design are sure to make an impression on you as well.
Overall, today's release is a pure, classic platformer that every gamer should at least try out.
this is awesome!!!

I'll try to drop by as often as I can. On other occasions Resil acts as my secretary. :P
On a side note, is my session still on the channel? :O

Damuna: We're doing our best - expect improvements much sooner than that.

Nope. Your connection has been MIA for months.

Lafazar: I can now confirm that the Rayman Forever version as it is sold on GOG is missing some CD audio tracks compared to the original release (see attached images, ignore the first track in both pictures, that's the data track).

Dear GOG team: It would be really nice if you could give us the original game+audio in a separate folder, thank you. :)
Unfortunately, part of the Rayman's soundtrack was cut out in the Forever version when it was originaly released and there is not much we can do about it at the moment. However in bonus materials you've got the full version of the soundtrack.
Overall, today's release is a pure, classic platformer that every gamer should at least try out.
Maybe it is, but no thank you. I've tried this when I was a kid and I found it too frustrating for me (and boring?).
Maybe next release is for me (suggestion: Heroes Chronicles ;) ).

Of course there is something you can do: Give us the original game in a separate folder including the original audio tracks, exactly like you bundled Rayman Forever. The audio tracks alone are probably useless, since the game executable was probably modified not to use as many tracks, so we need the full original game. The editor and "Rayman by his Fans" along with their audio tracks can stay as they are now.

Unless the problem is a legal one and you don't have the rights to the original game, but I don't think that should be impossible to get for you.

Any hope in getting those Q&A sessions "in print"?

yes, Rayman was released in a time when releasing a platform hell game and then having the audacity to charge money for it wasn't a bad thing. Not to say it's a bad game, it's actually very good. It's just that most commercial platformers released these days are much easier, I think the only one from recent memory that comes close is Donkey Kong Country Returns, so insane difficulty tends to be in games like I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game and games like Mario tend to be more accessible, there isn't much of the middle ground of difficulty that Rayman is.

Amez: Now, if Rayman 2 is going to come out.. THAT is going to be a wtfinstabuy.
You got a system besides a PC? Well if you do, then you are in luck.... it is on every system known to man. I wish Ubisoft would just get an original idea for once instead of rehashing the same goddamn game with no improvement (often times... such as the DS version... it is made worse) & calling it a NEW game.

Like you said, there are some legal issues involved. It is not impossible but very complicated, that's why I can't make any promises :(
First things first: YES!
This is an absolutely lovely surprise, and the mini-cherry on top of the regular cherry that sits on top of the sundae of awesomeness that is GoG.

Secondly: I've been wondering where you ran off to! How about you do your avatar proud and go dig up the rights to WH40K: Chaos Gate? That's a LOT of digging but you can pretend you're uncovering heretics and mutants. And you both know what we can't suffer them to do...

Oh, ok. Thanks for the answer, that wasn't clear before. :)

I know you try your best. And please know that I criticize because I care (both about the games and about GOG as a platform), so don't take my pedantry the wrong way. :)

Why do some members insist on writing pointless reviews for games they have no intention of buying.

Two reviews:

1. 5.99$? It's a bit to expensive. .

2. this is not a bad game, i rember playing it when it came out, and if it is ever part of a promo then i would consider getting it.. but not at the price it is at the moment .

What is the point of these reviews? If you have nothing to say about the actual game, why even post? For that matter, how is $5.99 expensive?
