Today a more modern Electronic Arts release joins the catalogue, and we bet most of you didn't see this one coming. Time to choose your class and fight for the cause of right!

[url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/nox]Nox is an isometric action-RPG mix from the masters at the famous Westwood Studios. You are Jack Mower, an ordinary guy living his ordinary life. But one day, due to a cosmic accident and the actions by the evil Queen of Necromancers, you're being sucked out of this universe by your own TV and transferred to a fantasy parallel universe called Nox. We're not sure, but we think the moral of Nox is "Don't watch too much TV." Who says gaming doesn't spread positive messages?

Jack, though, seems in a bit of a spot. It won't be a surprise if we tell you that the world Jack got into is in danger and he's the one that can save it, right?

The beginning seems easy, you need to choose your class and get into action. But the choice isn't as easy as you think it is as every class has its own starting point, story, ending, and gameplay mechanics, so choose your path wisely or just prepare to beat the game 3 times. As a warrior you'll be slashing and crushing your enemies with the huge arsenal of melee weapons available in the game, but you won't be able to use magic. The wizard is a mighty magician with a spellbook full of magic tricks you can use to attack enemies, make yourself invisible, teleport, and more. Wizards can't use weapons, though, so there's no backup if the spells run out. The last path you can choose is to play as the conjurer who can summon monsters and wild animals living in the world of Nox and use them to do all his dirty work, while also healing himself and his allies and, last but not least, using bows to help your critters out.

If you finish the game with all 3 classes and want more there are fun multiplayer modes that are inspired by the FPS genre like deathmatch, capture the flag, "King of the Realm" (aka king of the hill), and even a co-op mode! That's a hella lot of fun gameplay for only $5.99, so go get it now!
I really like this game, but I am having extreme difficulty starting out. In the first mission, I find my character is too weak to get past the first mission. He keeps getting killed by the crab-like monsters while trying to rescue the machine operator. I've tried numerous times, even spending money on armor, and still come out over matched. Does anyone have any advice on how to get past these things?

I just made sure I had plenty of Apples and just spammed the heal each time I took a hit ... I didn't really find it hard though ?
so you finally released a westwood game.

Could we get Bladerunner and lands of lore too?

And ofcourse Command & Conquer?

naomha: I would love to see ONI playable again!

Pemptus: I don't know what's making it non-playable for you, but this thing helped me: http://oni.bungie.org/help/winxp.html There are also some other unofficial patches if you search for them, but I can't vouch for those.
It's unplayable because I no longer own it any more:(

Thanks, Summitus, apples didn't work that well as I had all I could carry and still got wiped out... but then I tried a berzerker attack (I'm a warrior and the A key does this) and wiped it out in one try. Of course I nearly knocked myself dead by hitting a wall afterwords, but I took time, recovered and went back to town, then went on the Ix mission to battle all the urchins and other surprises that keep turning up there. Overall, though, this game is like a cross between Diablo, Ultima 8, and the movie "Army of Darkness".

*Sputters drink all over the place*
Woah woah woah woah....hold on a minute, ok, lemme parse this.
So, I gotta know the state of functioning multiplayer out of the box with this, and if it comes with quest mode...and then, either way I have to purchase it again.
Wishlisted. I'm glad to see the old classics getting some love.

Regarding the scorpions, another useful strategy is luring them to follow you back and let the crushing rocks do the dirty job for you. I found this to be very useful later on as there are plenty of traps in the game.

Hmm do you still get the all important experience if the crushing fists of falling rock do the killing? I seem to recall not seeing any EXP notifications when the kill blow is done by a means other than the player. It works on zombies because they don't die till you burn the corpse of course (so the rock can smash them all it likes ;) :))

I don't know but if it doesn't show up, my guess is no. Anyway I don't care about lost xp that much because I am not much of a powergamer and I like to feel I am outsmarting the baddies :-p

Aye but be careful how much you miss; in something like Diablo II where the monsters respawn every time you load the game its not a problem since you can always grind up another few levels; however in games where monster numbers are more limited its more important to hunt the EXP least you end up far into the game with a very underpowered character with no way of boosting your level.
This review is incorrect. It's not true that Wizards can't use weapons. There's 3 weapons that only wizards can use (triple fireball staff, lightning staff, and death ray staff), and theres 1 that the wizard and the conjurer both can use (fireball staff). Once your mana runs out, or (in multiplayer) a warrior makes you stunned with warcry and unable to use spells, you can use these weapons.
But this is one of the best games i have every played in both singleplayer and multiplayer -a must have game. Get this especially for LAN parties.

Yeah, that might explain why I never managed to finish the game :-p. Don't cry for me though, I died like a hero.
