We promised it would be coming soon--and here it is! Today we’re adding to the catalog Little Big Adventure 2: Twinsen’s Odyssey, released in full EFIGS glory.

After Twinsen defeated the evil Dr. FunFrock it seemed like everyone would live happily ever after until a sudden cloudstorm covered the Citadel Island horizon. Your flying Dino friend from the first Little Big Adventure, is hit by a bolt of lightning and crashes into Twinsen’s garden. Upon investigating, Twinsen finds out that something strange is lurking above the planet of Twinsun. Aliens are visiting, and they’d like to invite Twinsun’s wizards to come visit their home planet.

Twinsen isn’t a wizard, really, but he has a nose for trouble and this looks like something that needs to be investigated, so once again it’s up to you as Twinsen to don your Ancestral Tunic and embark on a quest that will take you to new vistas and new dangers. As a newly-graduated wizard, you will be called upon to visit and save more than just one world. This time you’ll visit 3 different planets, each with its own graphical style and a multitude of locations!

Of course, like any sequel, there are improvements in store besides the bigger and better story and locations. Little Big Adventure 2 has a fully 3D outside world, and the familiar and proven 3D engine for inside rendering as well. The camera got an update too, and now you can rotate the perspective. Dialog is voiced by all of the characters, and with full EFIGS localization it’s helluva treat!

If you’ve missed on either of the Little Big Adventure games, treat yourself to this wacky French classic series and buy them for $5.99 each!

Andremop: Seriously? It's not that hard at all. Good challenge, but that's it. I remember the jumping parts being awkward, but nothing the old save/load can't solve.

Bovrillor: Difficulty-wise, I was mainly referring to the vague nature of the objectives. I recall spending a lot of time wandering around not knowing what to do and getting shot at repeatedly.

Granted, this was back when the game was new so I was somewhat younger (am 27 now) so perhaps I'd find it easier now. I just recall it being terribly frustrating compared to other games of that era (Crusader: No Remorse/Regret and Syndicate were my personal favourites back then).

The jumping is definately awful, though. I can remember plummeting my way to a ragequit many many times.
Have to agree with the person above. Its hard but not that hard. Finished it when i was a kid back in the days without internet without too much trouble. But It has stayed with me as one of my favourite games of all time.

Any challenge in the game is nothing to how fun and engaging it ends up being!
This game is one of my favorite adventures, ¡AMAZING!.

I remember being a little stuck in the desert - something related to the Wizard School, but that's it. But I also remember not to care too much, since driving the car was so much fun!

Oh, and there was one place where you have to throw your ball in a button while in Discreet mode. It took me a lot of time to notice the ball behaved differently for each mode you choose.

hunvagy: Wait a sec.. is the third screenshot an easter egg? That's the guy from Time Commando!
Yes, it is. Time Commando was made by the same developers, after all.

Thanks for this, GoG. The LBA games were among my favourites as a kid, and while my tastes have changed since, they're still very fun games.

Now that was a game I really enjoyed, despite reviewers at the time absolutely hating it. One of the first games I ever beat on the hardest setting.

Looking back over the LBA screenshots & descriptions, I think I may have beaten the second one. I'm sure the first one was too much for me, though. I vaguely recall a maddening desert, think I got lost or stuck there. Maybe I'll try it again sometime... pretty sure the 486 I used to play it on is still out in the garage.
Anyone else hoping to see Time Commando show up here, next week maybe? :)

I loved all the Adeline Software games, they were among the very first PC games I bought myself (still have complete boxed copies of Time Commando and LBA 2). They were games even my sister and my parents enjoyed. So many great gaming memories are in these, just hearing the LBA2 theme brings a tear to my eye. I have rarely seen such beautiful games since, although Beyond Good & Evil was a wonderful spiritual successor.

Even back then I was sad to realise that Adeline would be no longer making any games, and that none of Raynal's follow-up projects (No Cliché, F4) made anything of the sorts. He had a lot of bad luck it seems! But I am incredibly hopeful that we might still see the third part in the LBA saga... the possibility is more real now than ever before, it seems. Hopefully the GOG re-releases will bring back memories for some, generate first interest for others, and show people that now would be a good time for a comeback...
Woooohoooo, siiicko game!
It's official now, guys and gals. GOG.com is the best site in the universe.

LBA2 is THE game of my childhood, sadly lost the CD long time ago. Good to see my precious game after 13 years again.

BTW, could anyone tell does this version contain original redbook audio?

More or less. It's included as a disc image, so you will hear it in-game; if you want to rip it out as a soundtrack, you'll have to jump through a few hoops. See here and here (they're talking about LBA, but it seems to be the same with LBA2).
