Hi I really like games similar Shining in the Darkness, (First-person POV, turn-based rpg) Unfortunately Shining in the Darkness won't save on my PC so I'm looking for similar games. I would appreciate it if someone would link me to a list / create a list of All Dungeon Crawler RPG type games and/or recommend some good ones. My computer isn't exactly a gaming computer, so I usually lean more towards the older games. I only have a 2.4GHz single core :(
One that I found myself was called Anvil of Dawn (I think...) and it looked kind of cool... But like I said, I would be grateful for any recommendations :)
Anvil of Dawn is pretty good, although not turn-based...
Might and Magic VI is good too.
And Paper Sorcerer was a nice surprise!

All of them here, on GOG. ;p

You could also check this GOG Mix for other games available here.

Bard's tale 1,2,3 that are included on the gog version of the newer game.
Thunderscape is cool
You will definitely enjoy Anvil of Dawn. For a Team based Tactical Dungeon crawl I would recommend Icewind Dale.
Lands of Lore 1-3
Might and Magic 1-8
Wizardry 6-8

Paper Sorcerer looks like it might also be what you are looking for, but I haven't played it myself. So I cannot vouch for it. Anvil of Dawn, Legend of Grimrock, and StoneKeep have real time combat and not turn based, just so that you are aware.

I can't vouch for the others, but Legend of Grimrock is fantastic, as long as real-time isn't a complete dealbreaker. (Seriously, it's gorgeous and plays fantastically too!)

As to Paper Sorcerer, it's very unique and definitely turn-based. The aesthetic is pretty distinct and cool for its setting (medieval dungeon within a book, not a spoiler as you learn that within first 15-20 minutes of play), while the soundtrack is also pretty unusual but seems to work pretty well. If you're interested, there's a demo here.

I don't have the game myself, despite giving it that praise, mostly because I wasn't really looking for another game of its type at the time, but since you're looking in that direction, I'd say it's worth a try and possibly a buy. It also has you playing a pretty interesting, alternate take role from the typical dungeon crawler, I think.
Check this link (and also part 2, 3 and 4 linked in first post).

If I just could pick one, I would go with Wizardry 8 (it's the apogee of this genre).
If you have a DS or a 3DS, I recommend the Etrian Odyssey series. Strange Journey is also worth a look, too.

As for the PC, Grimrock is a good game. However, you might also be interested in the Ultima Underworld games if you can come to grips with their primitive controls.
Pc, Heroes of a Broken Land, seems good, I have it but not played yet. http://wingedpixel.com/heroes-of-a-broken-land/

Nintendo Ds / 3ds games Etrian Oddyssey, and the GREAT Shin Megami Tensei on Ds, Strange journey.

Several games of the genre on PSP and lately a Vita release, Demon Gaze.

Edit : just for the record, I do like them a lot too, my first was Bloodwych on Amstrad CPC 6128.. Ahh.. :)

It should be noted, however, that your best bet of acquiring Etrian Odyssey's earliest installments is online anymore. Very, very difficult to find in any local shops, unless you have some sort of specialist gaming shops nearby that pride themselves on older games. I think I've never seen the first game anywhere locally, and only learned of it from a thread online on another forum discussing some recent classics.

Anything published by Atlus is apt to have relatively few physical copies. I am hoping that with SEGA's acquirement of Atlus, we would start seeing their games in digital format for all platforms, including the PC.
