mob rule is great improvement over constructor but its mission oriented there is no open play, you have to do what the godfather says or else..and it all depends on the start to the end for example at the end chapter 1 you spent all the money then you are screwed in chapter 2 cause it carries over.
the game is very difficult to finish but fun to play specially get the undesirables to do the the dirty work

Zchinque: What reviews? All reviews I can remember have given pretty high scores.
And why? Because it is the most humorous and charming city sim around. And you can send psychopaths with chainsaws to destroy your opponent's properties. That's a plus.

Smannesman: I was kind of hoping you weren't going to call me on that :P
It was meant as a motivational tool to get you talking, I don't have any real data.
I vaguely remember liking it as a kid, but I was hoping you would start ranting about how cool it was.
So why not Mob Rule?
Isn't it similar?
Oh I did find one review with a low score after looking high and low: Computer and Videogames.
But I think their rating system is messed up or something because the tiny review is actually positive.
I might get Constructor actually, for nostalgic reasons.
I've never played Mob Rule, so I can't really compare the two. Any opinion I might have would be based on second hand sources - when it came out I remember reading that it was supposedly less charming than Constructor. It also, again supposedly, added nothing to the formula, while taking away certain features (such as free play).

That said, I wouldn't mind trying out Mob Rule, although it won't be this time.
I am not interested in this promo but I am very, very glad to see that GOG abandoned the 40 or 60% saving system :). Bravo!
Was thinking about getting Mob Rule since I love Constructor so much when it came out.
Then found out about this sale.
Huzzah Gog !! :D

Oh, I haven't installed it yet.
Just felt the instant need to have it right away.
Haven't got the time to play anything these couple of weeks.
Which explains why I read your reply just this minute.
