Whether or not you like Citizen Kane or feel that its praise is justified. There is no denying that it is a byword for excellence in film and name is synonymous with great film making. So here is a question for you (in a delightul exam format):

As Citizen Kane is to film, ________ is to PC gaming.
As Citizen Kane is to film, Baldur's Gate Saga is to PC gaming. Without a doubt.

As Citizen Kane is to film, Sacrifice is to PC gaming.
I agree with Sacrifice.

But perhaps Planescape: Torment is more fitting of the role.
Didn't this really pretentious writer for IGN try to argue once that Metroid Prime is the Citizen Kane of video games?
As Citizen Kane is to film, The Longest Journey is to PC gaming

And yes, while Kane is a great film, Casablanca trumps it in every way.
You're all wrong. The real Citizen Kane of PC games is <insert your favourite game here>.

Echoing Grimdango, the real Casablanca of PC games is <insert your other favourite game here>.

Probably this.
Long, boring and overrated.. but still decent.
As Citizen Kane is to film, Big Rigs is to PC gaming...er...I mean Braid?

I concur with you Sir, :D

Actually, you're wrong on that one. Planescape : Torment, like Baldur's Gate, didn't innovate in any way. They didn't do anything that hadn't been done before, they just did it right. In the case of Sacrifice however, there was nothing like it before it appeared, just like in the case of Citizen Kane.
IMO it would be Half Life, it changed FPS games forever. Created one of the most famous iconic characters and not only that be helped propel Valve into the juggernaut it is in the video game industry today.

I disagree. I acknowledge that Citizen Kane is a extremely well made film that revolutionized cinema by pioneering new technology and technique. But it is not one of my favorite films. A fair-minded critic of a PC game can recognize a "great" game, even if their personal tastes differ.
As Citizen Kane is to film, Modern Warfare 2 is to PC gaming.

GOG really needs to get it.
