I only have a laptop too, and that's what I use for gaming. I have an additional reason for using it, my house is way too small and I do not have enough space for a proper computer table and desktop. Seriously.

Nope - I also use a laptop for gaming. Bear in mind a lot of GOG'ers like older and therefore less CPU intensive games, so low to medium range laptops are more than sufficient.

I hate using a touchpad, so if I am going to be at a table all the time using a mouse anyway I might as well stick with desktops.

I've been using a laptop as my primary gaming machine for years (since I've been moving from place to place and haven't been in a place long enough to bother getting a decently spec'd desktop together)

My current laptop is an 11 inch with a quad core i7 Ivy Bridge / GeForce 650M - which currently plays most current games on medium/high settings at 1366x768 - and I'm considering upgrading to a 13 inch with i7 Haswell and Geforce 765M / 1920x1080

I think the only thing weird about your post it that you actually have a computer running Windows ME. Why on earth would you not load 98SE on that sucker. I would even suggest trying XP on it over running WinME.

I only use a laptop. I have a few desktops around and I have enough parts laying around to put together a pretty good system. The last desktop I had sat around collecting dust, while I was happy playing games and doing everything else on my laptop.

For me the desktop is dead.

For reference i expect at least 5 years of regular use out of a hardware purchase.

On the paper the brands are great and attractive, latest NVIDIA and Intel material, sexy big screens, and all portable..

Holding me from heavy laptop gaming i'm always thinking of short battery and overheating issues.. And well, the price for a top one.

Did you just say you use the touch pad?! Do you also use it during gaming?

I thought sales of laptops have increased the last couple of years as opposed to towers so I doubt it's weird. Personally I still prefer a tower due to the price difference and not having to worry about heat issues. I also don't like how close the screen is to the keyboard, at least if you're going to be using it for a few hours. I also hate touch pads but that isn't an issue as long as I can plug in a mouse and with enough space to use effeciently.

Nope. I haven't used anything but a laptop for the last four years and have yet to find a game I can't run on it :)

I own a desktop as well but it's literally months since I even turned it on, as my laptop does everything I want it to and is easy to move from desk to kitchen to bed to bathroom etc. Yep, it goes with me everywhere as I tend to watch movies or videos while I'm making dinner, feeding the rabbits, brushing my teeth, putting on make-up etc. -- I like to multi-task :)

They're grossly overpriced for what they really offer. They're like Apple, just maybe a bit less worse but are still preying on the same crowd. Big well marketed name that is said to be gaming incarnate, therefore the customer can justify paying ludicrous prices thinking that they're actually buying a superior product just because it costs so bloody much. It's like most pre-built desktop gaming rigs - a big no no.

I've also heard a lot about some physical issues with the laptop itself, but that's not really something I can confidently talk about.

Given that it's clearly your best option then no, that's not weird. That's just logical. However, not destroying all traces of ever having owned a copy of Windows ME is very weird indeed.
