JudasIscariot: I was excited before it was cool and mainstream. :hipster:
I *was* into upcoming GOG announcements in 2010.

Now, eh, I'm kinda *over* it.

I'm not super excited, but I can't deny i'm enjoying brainstorming what it could be. I'm HOPING (but not expecting) for an EA partnership. I still remember when Gametap had the Ultima and Wing Commander games...then lost them just after releasing WCII. It was incredibly frustrating and I don't think GT ever truly recovered from it. EA has never released the old Origin and Bullfrog and such games in any other post-2000 format (aside from the awful console ports in the PSP collection) and there's less chance of updated versions coming for older EA stuff than older Lucasarts stuff (hey, Telltale. When can we have a Sam and Max Hit the Road SE?)
Given EA’s absolutely retarded stance on DRM I deem this highly unlikely.

We have Activision. We can get EA.
This is like SOOO exciting! It's like Christmas morning, and your birthday all rolled up into one! Pinch me now I must be dreaming! Oooooooh!
I'm just kidding by the way. I am happy they are going to be bringing in a new publisher, and I'm sure that at least one of the 25+ games they will add will contain at least one game that I loved when I was younger. But, as far as getting my hopes up and all bubbily inside, dude, that boat left the dock many years ago.
Still, I say let people have their fun. Sure they may be dissapointed, but, I think it is better to have gushed then to never have gushed at all. If you know what I mean. ;-)

Yeah, and I doubt it's EA either, they do love them some DRM. Well time will tell all.
I'm excited just to see GOG grow. Unless the publisher is 2k, and unless some of the games are from Microprose, Infogrames, and Firaxis; then I won't be overly excited. Though perhaps if its EA then we get SMAC! That would excite me! I think I'm in the minority for what new games I'd like to see. There is a good chance that the new games won't reach my top ten list. But any news relating to GOG's expansion will be exciting for me!
If it's LucasArts games, that will be disappointing. I already own all the good LucasArts adventure games.

Demut: I don’t know, I just don’t feel very hyped for this. I can’t even imagine what great thing GOG could do that would get me pumped.
Free Prozac?

Joking aside, I kind of agree. Not that GOG can't do a lot of things I'd be excited about, but one thing they definitely can't do, is surprises I'm not wary of. I mean, I half expect this one to be something like "Surprise!!! We didn't encrypt your personal data and it's all been stolen!!!" (if only because nobody would fall for the "we're closed forever" thing again).
I'm hoping that Grim Fandango (Lucasarts) will finally be available - I bought the game as a new release on floppy disk way back and loved it but I haven't had a floppy drive for around a decade now! I still have the disks but they are ancient, even if I had a drive for them I wonder whether they would still work, I don't know what condition they are in. If that comes to GOG it will be a must buy for me.
Me. Also not really being excited. Learned my lesson last time. There will be many such announcements and only after much time the 25 titles will be released. With an average rate of 1 per week approx. half a year. Maybe less when they go faster. So I like that they grow and maybe if the titles are good I buy some of these, but my excitements spreads over the expected period of release dates, so not very high at the moment. Also they make more buzz before such conference than what's actually in them. No real numbers, useless references to the oh so great community - it's actually not that special - and sometimes announcements of announcements. I know about GOG, I can come back and always see/read what#s new - so I really do not attend any online presentation.
I'm interested, not excited. Mainly because my backlog of games is so big that I don't know if can finish it before being 81yo ^_^ and also because at the moment I don't have much money, so The Witcher 2 on day 1 was the only "day 1" release I could afford so far this year. And, well, it's not as if GOG is prone to disappear soon, so if I don't buy the fantasting games they'll announced in 2 days, in a couple of months they'll still be on sale here.
Eh...
I'm not really excited. I don't get excited about things like I use to. I'll probably check in on the day of the announcement and go, "Oh, wow, neat." But, no, I'm not really excited.

Then you're not talking about Grim Fandango as that game was never released on floppy discs. It had two CDs - maybe you got confused.

I am really excited! A new publisher is always a good thing. I really do not think it's LucasArts, though. Maybe it really is EA and they are giving us their old disbanded brands like Origin and Looking Glass. That would be awesome!

Demut: By the way, does your nick stem from the same-named manga?

Vagabond: Nope. Got it from a character in Wing Commander 3 & 4.
How could he think of manga?
Did you show him your collection [envious look]?
Personally I wish GOG'd hurry up and get Zork: Grand Inquisitor into the catalogue before working on any new games.
