LOL
This is why I never boycott anything. There's no point when most people are so inherently spineless.

Well, I didn't buy it. But it wasn't because I boycotted it. It is because I never purchase any third party games off of Steam.
I am getting it for the Xbox 360 though. ;)

The boycott worked perfectly well. For Activision. Such free advertising must have left them laughing in huge piles of money.

To be fair, some will have signed up in the honest belief that if a significant number of users joined the boycott it could convince Activision to add in dedicated servers etc. after all but were still going to buy it either way. You would think they would at least have the decency to quit the group before playing the game though. :P

Boycotting something as inherently popular as a blockbuster action FPS title is always going to be a losing battle. It's like trying to boycott Halo 3 because it's an overpriced piece of shit game (which it is). The armies of low cerebral function will always buy enough copies that any well-justified protest operation falls on it's ass.
Myself, I'm weak so I'm getting the game on the PS3 come christmas. No way am I ever buying the PC version though.

Damn, I wouldn't have bought it if I was part of that group... people really are spineless.
EDIT: That's why you can't give your intentions away... you'll look like you have a spine if no one knows what you think.

Never mind the fact that many of them seemed to have failed at the idea of a boycott, the group only had a little over 800 members. Even if they had stuck to their guns and not bought the game, there weren't enough of them to make any kind of difference anyway. The whole group was an epic fail even before anyone bought the game.

I bet whatever is left of the L4D2 boycott group will be just like this.

This would be the definition of irony.
And Activision is making lots of money from irony.
