Roxolani: A must-have game?
It depends on what you want, and on what specifically you liked about Fallout 2.

PS: T borders on point-and-click adventure territory. It's very good as far as that goes, but despite the AD&D label and ruleset, it's pretty light on traditional crunch. If you want story, then yes, go with PS: T. If you want hardcore roleplaying mechanics to play with, it probably won't satisfy you.
Expeditions: Conquistador is one of the closest games to Fallout I have ever played, in spite of it not quite looking that way.
NOT on GOG - but available DRM free and pretty much everything you want:

I don't like such type of games.

$19.99... worthy?

Nice. I saw that game on Steam. Still on development/early access stage?

tburger: It is. And music is composed by Mark Morgan.

Roxolani: Arcanum + Planescape Torment.

Any non-GOG?
They're not finished yet and might be on GOG when they are but take a look at Wasteland 2 and Dead State.

Absolutely. If you're interested in a bit more in-depth look, I made a topic for that.

Other than that, it reminds me of Fallout a lot - while it's got a much more stronger focus on survival and turn-based battles just sort of work differently, there's a lot of focus on freeroaming and exploring a big map, finding quests and making very meaningful decisions, which might come back to bite you in the ass later on. Strongly recommended. It's also a fair bit more polished than Arcanum, altho Arcanum is definitely more Fallout-like.

Yeah - but Styg constantly adds stuff to it and what was there last January was great - LOADS more added since.
Fallout 1 - it's like Fallout 2, but better.

Or Krater - it's sorta, kinda, nearly Swedish Fallout.

I don't like unfinished games, even if they are BEST.

I played all Fallout games and my favorite is F2. Never heard about Krater.

Maybe if that game goes "on sale", I'll buy. Because I lost a lot of my money for many of these $19.99 look-like-good games.

Dear gamers, would you please help me?

I can't run and play Neverwinter Nights. :(

Wasteland 2 is an obvious one because it's by Brian Fargo, the same Brian Fargo from Fallout. It has the same post nuclear war theme, and the same turn based combat, and is about as close to a Fallout clone as you'll get. Brian Fargo also did the original Wasteland.

I think it's due out this year (don't quote me on that) but the Early Access is available now at Steam if you're into that. Not my cup of tea, but just to let you know.

EDIT: I should add though, probably the biggest difference between Fallout and Wasteland is that Fallout is centered around one character (the vault dweller) while both Wasteland 1 and Wasteland 2 are absolutely party based RPG's. But the setting, mechanics, and I think (but might not be remembering this right) rules are about the same.

Oooh, thanks for that link, I had missed that thread. I've got the game from here at gog and hadn't tried it yet. That's going to be pushed up on my list now. Thank you very much. Wish I had seen that thread earlier.

While not out yet, Age of Decadence's gameplay mechanics draw heavy influence from Fallout.

djdarko: People have been suggesting Arcanum to me for years, I still need to get that and play through it.
It's a very good game IMO, particularly at the beginning stages, but I have to confess I found myself drifting a bit in mid-game. It may have been my frame of mind at the time, but I just remember it beginning to feel more like a grind or something to finish rather than oh boy let's see what happens today kind of thing that I got through all of the Fallouts.

I hope that doesn't come off as too harsh, I would recommend the game to anyone, just I don't think I would put it in the same top shelf quality as I would Fallout.

Plus the whole tech/magic thing is, while VERY interesting and a neat concept, a little..... I dunno, frustrating? at certain points. I'll say this, the choices you make early on do dictate your style of gameplay. Because if you're going to base your main character on technology, you really don't want to count on magical healers in your party. By the time your character is up on the technology scale, all that happens is the magical healers use up all of their mana failing to do any healing, and then are out of mana when the next battle arises.

EDIT: The recipes in the back of the manual are fun too. lol

I don't know if someone has mentioned it before, but, did you play Fallout 2 with the restoration project? Adds a lot of cut content to the game.

Arcanum has very similar mechanics, but a completely different atmosphere (steampunk if you're into that kind of thing) I always loved the post apocalyptic atmosphere of Fallout 2. The only other games that I can think of right now with vaguely similar post apocalyptic feels : Stalker (darker more depressing mood, but verrry intense and often scary), and of course Fallout 3. The latter is probably the best imo if you're after the same type of atmosphere. A lot of people don't like it for some reason, and I have to confess I really don't understand why. Its a massive wasteland, packed with interesting locations and interesting people. You'll be hard pressed to see even most of it on your first play through. Unfortunately, Fallout 1&2 remain the better games in my book (there's just something about them).

Roxolani: Any recommendation? Something similar and close to Fallout 2?
There are only game two games out there close to Fallout 2. Fallout and Fallout New Vegas and GOG does not sell these games, unfortunately.

Yeah, I played Restoration Project. That bald Cassidy/Casidy guy :)) and nice armors for your team.
