Going beyond the digital!

Recently, you showed us that you're invested in making GOG.com a better service. We appreciate your willingness to provide us with feedback, as it gives us a unique opportunity to shape our business to your liking. It's nice to have an active and supportive community in your corner, when you fight the good fight in the DRM-free revolution. Thank you! Today, we want to ask for your opinion on something completely different than content policies, online-keys, and beta-access. Some of you asked about GOG.com official merchandise on many occasions. We'd like what kind of gadgets--if any--you'd like to see in our offer.

That's not all! Some of our industry partners ask us from time to time, if GOG.com would be willing to promote their products to its users via various special offers. For example, we could offer you coupons giving you 50% discount on some gaming accessories like controllers, or keyboards. We're wondering if you're interested in an option to receive such offers from our partners. Please take a moment to answer a few questions so we know what's your opinion!

*NOTICE: The survey is now closed. Thank you for participation!*

SLP2000: I voted yes, and that's because I want to buy myself "I like it cheap and unprotected" T-shirt.
Like the one I have?

Yup, this one. I feel my life is not complete without that t-shirt.

There must be more people than me who think that putting a link on a t-shirt completely ruins it? Not specifically talking about the one you're wearing, without the gog link the context would be completely different, but in almost all of the others cases - horrifying.

Hum, this looks kind co-FUCK AESTHETICS, ADVERTISING, MOTHERFUCKERS, JUST YOUR MONEY ISN'T ENOUGH

I said no to gaming hardware, etc. offers. I don't need that kind of spam. It's the sort of stuff one rarely buys and when you do it tends to come at a particular time when you need it, not when it is on some offer or something. At least that's my take on that stuff.

The swag is another thing altogether though. I am all for drinking my morning coffee while perusing these forums with a nice big GOG coffee mug. I would also proudly wear a GOG t-shirt and baseball cap. I'm not too sure about stuff for games. I guess it would depend on the game. Come to think of it, Ultima or Might and Magic t-shirts would be very cool along with hats so I guess I would. Maybe I could be tempted by other classics as well, like Wing Commander.

I'm glad GOG asked as I think GOG clothing and mugs would be very cool at the least. And it is good advertising for GOG as well!

jamotide: Doesnt all the cheap crap come from china anyway? Why would it be shipped from the US? Are they shipping cheap crap from china to the US to brand it there and then ship it back to Europe and Asia?
Make it in India or Asia, then ship it to USA, then out to the rest of the world. That is the tried and tested way to make money, anything else is just marginal profits and the banks want BIG profits.

With that kids you now know how business is run in the modern world. Go out and do the same until there is no real financial revenue left in your country, then blame it all on immigrant workers.

XYCat: GoG is european (at least i think so) so i'd say the shipping should be ok hopefully.

Profanity: The merchandise would be from a third-party website if I remember the survey correctly, which probably won't be European.
Why not? GoG is European so I bet they'd have options. If they are based somewhere else I'd really think they can figure moderate shipping solutions for everyone maybe by using different companies for same stuff based on the address of the costumer.

Voted. Now I want my free t-shirt.

Although I would consider a mug or t-shirt the prices would have to be more competitive. So probably only when it is on sale.
As for you advertising your own merchandise it must be discrete, I come here for games, not clothes. If you screw that up I feel a lot of people will get very angry.

Lastly, third party adverts? No, no, no, no, no, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO-NO-N-N-N-N-NNNN!!!!!!

Allow an opt out of the third party promotions and it's good to go.

Too bad about the previous merchandise no longer available.
Posters! Like many, I should have read this thread first.
I love all of these options, except maybe mugs but by all means still offer them because others will like them. I even like you working with accessories partners. This is a much better way to stay economically viable and competitive than ever changing your current business model. And I'll definitely purchase some swag.

Might I suggest stickers and patches too? A lot of people dig these things. But, please, keep the advertising of said products and partner's products and services tasteful and more in the background, not in your face. People are smart enough to know where to get the things that they want, so we don't need to constantly reminded about it. I'm sure it will be tasteful, as most everything about this site is, but I just had to write that.
Give me posters.

I want posters.

Posters.
I liek surveys :3
Just completed it. Hope you get some good feedback.
Merchandise and hardware discounts are good, but I don't think it should be part of the core business of GOG because it's about DRM Free gaming and both of these have 'nothing' to do with DRM free gaming.
These are likely only to detract from the scene by stealing focus away from the core of GOG.com; and when higher profits are being taken in from these companies kickbacks on their extended product lines, well it has the potential to be used against GOG core values as a bargaining chip in negotiations.
