We're giving away 100 games a day to our users to celebrate our 5th birthday!
For the last 5 years we've been doing our best to bring the best games in history to your home computers. Now, we're celebrating our birthday, and we want you--our users--to have a blast! That's why for the next five days we'll be giving away 100 games a day via our different channels (the forums, social media, YouTube). The details of each giveaway will be revealed on day to day basis, so make sure to drop by daily and see what are we up to.
Today, we've planned something special for our followers. Here's what you need to do to enter the 100 free games draw: First, you need to [url=http://j.mp/followGOGonYT]follow the GOG.com channel on YouTube. Do you know our weekly guide to new releases, promos, and special features, This Week on GOG? The show returned to your screens after the summer break last Friday. The second requirement to enter the draw is to leave a comment under the recent episode:
<iframe width="590" height="443" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/j_XfpcLJE2U?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
What kind of comment? Well, The Enigmatic T, who voices the show, happens to be extremely vain. Write an original compliment about his voice. That will be the second, and final thing you need to do. Just please, no obscenity. Out of all the people who do this, we'll pick 100 users who will be sent a $9.99 gift-code (via YouTube PM).
You have time until tomorrow, that's Thursday, October 3, at 2:59PM GMT to enter the giveaway, as at that time we'll be moving to another communications channel with a new set of rules.
EDIT:

Have you participated in one of our 5th birthday contests, but are still waiting for its conclusion? We're a bit overwhelmed by the number of entries, as this is the ongoing biggest series of giveaways in the whole of GOG.com history. Please be patient, well sort it all out, eventually, and everyone who was lucky enough to win something will be notified. Sorry for the delay!

saberwolfxm: But really this is about them not us.
That were sort of my point , I just didn't express it that bluntly... It just made me a little bit annoyed that they then call it a "GiveAway" rather than "GOG.com's 5th Birthday promtion" / "social thingy promotion" ..
avatar
saberwolfxm: If you don't want to do it that's fine, again I know how you feel, just keep in mind that their just trying to build the site by adding new members.
I don't mind that GOG's does all in it's power to get more customers and attention (as long as it is sober and otherwise OK , *NOT* saying that what they do are generally not)
What I mind is that we pushed on site social media features on GOG.com in interface and have to look at even if a person like I really couldn't care less.... (I do in particular *not* feel like getting Tweet or Facebook message "socalled options" when I buy a game)

With respect to your expression "But for now just revel in the glory which is GOG :-)" then that sort of makes more things spring to my mind but I will skip all but one and mention that for many years then Indian Book publisher (and seller) "Motilal Banarasidas" have had "Gram" contact info : "GRAM: GLORYINDIA"
(look at page : http://sanskritdocuments.org/atul/bookstores.html and search for GLORYINDIA if any interest in having it confirmed or otherwise curous)

Google is forcing G+ accounts just to comment on Youtube now? No thanks. Best of luck to the contestants.

TheEnigmaticT: I am unsure how, G-Doc, but at some point I will make you pay for this. You will rue the day!

Begin rue-ing now, actually. It is never too soon to rue.

FiatLux: I for one have the whole time thought that "TheEnigmaticT" has always been a totally cool marketing guy , but as for this socalled "GOG.com 5th Birthday Giveaway" then it seems to more take shape of "GOG.com 5th Birthday Promotion Show (with some Giveaway)".
I think that GOG ought to have come clean from the start and explained GOG's need for raising awareness about GOG's social media site activities. But personaly then I refuse to have to use FaceBook , Twitter , Youtube , whatever, for obtaining information that I subscribe to email newsletter(s) to get.
I will abstain from expressing myself further here as I am getting rather negative because of all of this.

I have bought rather many games here , I *do* supportt GOG by promoting GOG whenever I find it appropriate. Also I think that we all ought to support the DRM free consept in a time where huge companies are trying to tighten the DRM grip tighter each day.... However I refuse to do what I am asked to do here...
I can get what you're saying. I would note that we just came off of 4 days of giving away free games to people who entered our trivia contests--which were hosted on this website--and then another day where the only requirement to enter was "post a screenshot of when you joined GOG". We have definitely been giving everyone who is a part of GOG.com's forums prizes as part of our birthday.

But I think that we should also give something to everyone who follows us on our social media channels--and, yes, give people more reason to join us on those channels if they have not already--is rewarding our community wherever they may be.

I can understand that you don't want to participate in a contest on GOG.com that's hosted elsewhere. That's wholly your prerogative. But we've very deliberately not been forcing all of these contests through social media because we know of people like you, and we've given you a string of gifts just through here. Hopefully you won't begrudge the people who do use social media their chance to get something, too.

Hey EnigmaticT, you really have only yourself to blame.

Twice in the video you say "Welcome Back", as if you were some sort of GREAT SUINLORD who left his weak minions in darkness as you left for greater pleasures. Then with your return (plus voice) you lifted the darkness on your minions, and as they kneel about you worshiping you, you then call onto them "Welcome Back (my minions)"

Errrrr, the correct way to express yourself would be "Hey, it's great to be back", "Hey everyone, I missed you it's good to be back", "Wow, here I am back", etc. That is the humble way of the great grasshopperlord, known for humbleness and a reserved voice.

Hmmmm, then again, maybe you do think you are the GREAT SUNLORD and were actually welcoming us minions back to bask in that sonorous voice of yours.

Tough to tell....
I could have sworn I left a comment on the video, but my account shows no record. Dammit.

TheEnigmaticT: and then another day where the only requirement to enter was "post a screenshot of when you joined GOG"
As far as I remember then that is simply not true , TheEnigmaticT !
I think conditions were that a $ 9.99 game were given to the first XXX number of people that had been a member at GOG THE LONGEST.
Posting the screenshot were evidence for GOG.com convenience only , it were the lenght of membership that really counted , so not as you state

Look , "TheEnigmaticT" , why on earth would I that really like and support GOG.com have anything against that GOGcom does everything within reason and good behaviour to get known , and to get as many customers as possible ? . Anyone who likes GOG.com and who support your DRM free concept would only want that GOG.com grows , get's many more customers and gets so big a company that even other big companies have to take you guys and the principle of DRM free games into consideration...

Why would I "begrudge" GOG.com for using social media in general for promotion ?
What rubs me the wrong way is that it get plastered everytime I buy and that my choice of going directly to the download of the game I bought has beeen substituted with a Tweet , FaceF**k and what not (I know I still get the go to the general games page on my account link).
Also I find it annoying if someone calls something a "Giveaway" if it is really a Social Media promotion of the company , but then again I live in a world where so many things , words and concepts are twisted every day so IRL / offline I'm not eactly satisfied. So if GOG.com needs to then GOG.com can write off my "less than satisfied state of mind" to that !!! - I don't usually participate in the GOG.com forums here any more and I already own at least 500 games (I think) on GOG.com so none of this is really a biggie for me....

I can't remember Twitter or Facebook showing up anywhere during the purchase and download of a game, so could you, please, elaborate on this?
