As our catalogue gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalogue, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

With the new month on the calendar, autumn came over (at least in this part of the world), as well as the first Wednesday of October - this means we have another GOG Gem Promo for you. Today we're offering a 60% discount on Space Rangers! It's one of those games that are really hard to classify -- but that's good! Space Rangers is a crazy mix of strategy, RPG and 2D arcade shooter with a pinch of economics and managerial elements. Add to this a huge, living galaxy to explore and you'll get a truly awesome game that will bring you hours of fun gameplay. As a member of Space Rangers, a small group of brave pilots who protect the universe, you have to face the evil and deadly Klissans. The development of the conflict you're part of is generated dynamically and influences the in-game market which affects prices of goods and their availability. Choosing race of your pilot and your class will also have an effect on the gameplay, so no playthrough will be the same, and for only $3.99 that's a steal. If you like Space Rangers you definitely need to try Space Rangers 2: Dominators as well.

Don't wait as the promo ends tomorrow, October 6 at 5:59 a.m. EDT (9:59 a.m. GMT).

Nirth_90: Are these any to play if you prefer RPG elements over strategy? Not that I dislike strategy really it's just too much work and I suck at it so kind of ruins the fun.
I don't know if you'll be able to read this before the promo ends, but I've found that Space Rangers isn't exactly heavy on the strategy part. Sure, you have to analyze the situation and decide which course of actions to take, but it's mostly just battle tactics - you have to adapt to any situation well in order to have a chance of surviving conflicts with the Klissans.
About the RPG part: you certainly can role-play the class you want to pursuit, and you can do enough things to make most of them viable. (Although it's highly recommended that you do invest in arming your ship well, because otherwise gaining experience will be much harder /you gain it from collecting parts of destroyed Klissan ships, and if you don't participate in a fight, you can only count on sweeping parts left over from ships destroyed by others/.) There are also some stats (skills), but initially you can't really count on them, and they are fairly difficult to raise so you really have to decide what to improve.
Bleah! I'm such a sucker.
I bought it eventually.
Though I'm not sure if I will enjoy it or if I'll have the time to play it. GOG will surely enjoy my money... :)
Yay.. that's a promo
But can anyone explain why the promo says it's $3.99 and I've got $9.99 before the 'Process order' button ?

It was a 1-day promo and it ended about half an hour ago. Sorry.

This has probably been said but:

1. The SR2 isn't the Reboot version
2. Buying SR 1+2 here costs $20
3. For way less than $20 you can get a physical copy of SR2: Reboot that includes SR1
