Anomaly Warzone Earth, the tower defense game where you’re the attacker, gives you the chance to defend our planet from an overwhelming invasion with a 60% discount until 9 August 2012 at 10:59 GMT.

The sudden, otherworldly strike against the Earth shattered the planet’s defences. Many of the world’s major cities were turned into smoking ruins. Upon them, the alien invaders built their heavily armed outposts. Things are looking very grim for humankind. But there’s still some hope. It will take a military mastermind to lead the remaining Earth’s forces and launch a successful counterattack, but it can be done.

Apart from the sleek graphics and flawless presentation this game looks just like every other tower defence game. But there’s a twist: this time you are the attacking party and the towers defending the battlefield belong to your alien enemy. As your units progress along their path, the hostile installations cover them with a hail of bullets. It’s up to you to manage your scarce resources, install upgrades, apply repair kits, and make sure that the human forces complete their objectives. If they fail, you’ll be the one to blame. After all, planning the best attack route is part of your job as the Earth’s last great military mind.

Get Anomaly Warzone Earth to plan your perfect offensive and launch a devastating attack against the aliens, for only $3.99 until Thursday, August 9 at 10:59 AM GMT.
Hm, time to get a GOG copy as well it seems.
Looks interesting enough, that at this price, will have to pick it up and give it a try
and one for me :)
I like the way the game is done, but the difficulty is quite ridiculous. I got through a few levels, but there was one where you have to battle your way through to save another mech, only to have to escort them to the end zone, with limited team members.

Seemed impossible.

Yeah..I hate when that crap happens in a game...I enjoy increasing difficulty (what it's all about right), but as it has been discussed before regarding other games, when it shoots up significantly all the sudden, where the level becomes near, or almost impossible, it definitely detracts from the pleasure. Well, looking forward to playing through those first levels, anyway ;-) Btw, anyone know if the 'puter specs shown pretty stringent, or are somewhat forgiving? Have an xp machine with a dual core 2.6, and Nvidia 7600GT. I think I should be able to skirt by...

I'm playing Anomaly just now and I must say that the difficulty is increasing at a very reasonable rate. I'm on mission #10 and haven't encountered anything too difficult (on "Advanced" difficulty setting). If I identify the original poster's mission rightly, I have passed it with few retries. It all boils down to identifying the right tactic for each situation (smoke for one tower type, decoy for another, approach a third from the side/back, stay out of the fourth's radius of effect, repair on corners, use commander to draw fire, etc.)

If there is anything to gripe about in this game it's:
(a) the checkpoint system -- some are a bit too far apart
(b) the fact that units do not carry from mission to mission -- but that's all too common in many strategy games.

Not a bad game at all, especially at this price. Buy it!

Props to GOG for the 60% discount! System requirements are just a little over what I have, though (and I'm not really interested in this genre.)

Odd, I completed the game both on PC and Android without any significant problems. On the easiest difficulty setting, sure, but it was definitely not impossible. And I'm not a hardcore completist gamer. I tend to stop playing a game if it grows so difficult that it's more frustrating than fun (which happens to me quite often).

It may simply be a question of adopting a different strategy.

Personally, I think this game is very good, and at $4 I highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't got it already.
I actually bought that for my phone. As a PC game I find it a little bit to uninteresting. But 4$ isn't that much either ...
I bought my last game two weeks ago and it won't change today... too bad... I'm not complaining though! There must be some people who enjoy recent promos/releases so I'm happy that they are happy. I can patiently wait a little longer ;)
Duh... just this week I started playing the Steam version, mostly because I was curious about how promising 11 bit studios is (always glad to see that at least in this industry our country is pretty good). Anyway: Really good game, especially considering that it's part of a genre that's been spreading and mutating like an uncontrollable virus. It's got a somewhat different premise and is IMHO a more solid gameplay experience due to partially being almost an action game (I hate it that most TD games are only about developing the perfect formula and following it). Will pick up a copy on GOG too although I'm wondering if this version supports the online highscore.

Trailer music convinced me to buy it. Am a sucker for eastern-sounding soundtracks.
Thanks GOG! Bought it just for the soundtrack :) Already have it, but owning a DRM-Free copy is always a nice thing :)
Buy it, it's a wonderful game!
