Like fangbite wrote in my other thread, I think it is good, if we could make a list, what game from GOG works good/ not so good with Ubuntu/Linux and Wine.
I will edit this post with alle tested games. :)
I take the start:
Games with Wine tested:
Descent 3
avatar
bagnaj97: it works perfectly if you take note of the following:
1. You must use the opengl renderer. After some fiddling I got direct3d working but it was slow.
2. I found oss sound to be better than alsa, but YMMV (change using winecfg)
3. Compiz must be disabled before playing. This is very important as direct3d wouldn't display anything except the hud and opengl had severe scaling issues (only top right of display shown over the whole screen). You can run the command "metacity --replace" to temporarily disable compiz, log out and in again to get compiz back.
This actually worked better for me than under vista x64 as under vista I couldn't get mouse control working.

Fallout
No Problems with the installation, starting the game also worked without any problems.
Fallout 2
No Problems with the installation, starting the game also worked without any problems.
Freespace
avatar
jsims2359: Freespace 1 runs on Ubuntu 8.04 with wine 1.1.4, but the sound cuts out and exiting the game will force you to kill the X server with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. Be advised.
UPDATE: The mouse is usable as a flight control, but just barely. There seems to be some disparity between the resolution of the game window and the resolution the mouse thinks is in effect. The effect is also noticeable in the hanger if you move your mouse pointer to the far right. You start to see some delay on both axises.

Giants: CItizen Kabuto
avatar
jmgreen7: Giants installed and started fine but the performance really tanked whenever the camera was facing a building/structure (like 5-10 FPS). Then I installed the GiantsHooks patch and the performance is now great. I haven't tested multiplayer.

Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising
avatar
jsims2359: is running as it should on Ubuntu 8.04 with wine 1.1.4.
NOTE: You must emulate a virtual desktop in order for Direct X to be detected correctly which allows you launch the game. Also, the sensitivity of the x axis while using mouse control (with the helicopters) seems to fluctuate randomly from near perfect control to frustratingly unresponsive. Mouse works fine everywhere else.

Kingpin
avatar
danebramage: installs and runs fine (there's no cursor on the main menu screen, but since it can be navigated with the arrow keys, that's no big deal).

M.A.X.
avatar
danebramage: installs and runs fine (since it runs in DOSBox, it works best in a window where the top of the screen isn't cut off by the DOSBox window's title bar--hit Alt-Enter to go into windowed mode).

M.A.X. 2
avatar
danebramage: installs fine but wouldn't run for me the one time I tried. No big loss, as M.A.X. 2 sux and it comes bundled free with the original M.A.X.

MDK 1
avatar
Dash: works great under WINE, all except for the video. It's not bad though. It stretched the video out to the point where some of the game was off screen in the Y directions. A change of options to the display of games in a window fixed it.

Original War
avatar
FALK: Original War is somewhat playable, but with bad graphics in hud, wouldn't recommend it. Unable to run in VirtualBox because it cant detect the graphics card memory correctly. Maybe it works in vmware.

Perimeter
avatar
fangbite: Perimeter installed and ran fine. The only thing which might be considered a glitch is that the game just took over a piece of my desktop in the top left corner, carving out a number of pixels according to its resolution.
avatar
FALK: Runs great in wine 1.1.4 except the cursor is invisible, can be fixed by building and using wine-hacks: http://repo.or.cz/w/wine/hacks.git . I hope the patch enters mainline soon, but the bug has been known for almost a year.

Sacrifice
avatar
jmgreen7: Sacrifice installed and ran without a hitch and runs great. I haven't tested multiplayer.

Stonekeep

chris20636: In Fedora 8, the game would play fine for a 15-30 minutes and then the sound would go to a loud hiss. Some google searches seems to pinpoint the problem to the new X windows sound server in Fedora 8 and up called pulseaudio. I removed the pulseaudio packages from my system using yum. I rebooted and after playing with the volume control some, I got sound back which should be pure ALSA system. So far, that seems to have fixed the sound problem.
I didn't notice the mouse issue some have had under XP. However, I did notice it under Linux. The fix was the same though. Just don't use the mouse and hit ESC to get past the movie to the main menu. Then using the mouse at the menu and in the game works fine.

Verdan: Oddworld: Strangers Wrath
Works really well, even though there wasn't an install script. The games has to be started through the launcher, since the main exe fails for some reason. In-game seems to work perfectly (haven't played through the game yet, I've got quite a backlog...), the menus and tutorial texts have a bit of a laggy effect, but that's no big problem.
Have you actually done something to make it run? It runs great on my wine, but ... Mouse just isn't working, not at all. It seems like the game didn't even detect it.

edit: and yeah, I've tried different versions of Wine, force-capturing the mouse, windowed mode and virtual desktop.

The mouse works for me.

Only thing I did was set some display settings, but that shouldn't be the problem:
GLSL Support = enabled
DDR = OpenGL
[...default...]
Multisampling = enabled
Strict Draw Ordering = enabled

Weird issue...Good luck fixing it! (Don't forget to heck the debug log for errors!)
I just got Terminal Velocity yesterday and ran the installer in wine (opensuse 12.2, wine 1.5.6). Got a Gdiplus.dll error which I fixed using wintricks.. Just run "winetricks gdiplus" in a terminal.. After this the game installed and ran fine.. I always change the graphics setup to opengl..

Just got an issue with my gamepad (logitech wingman extreme USB).. can't get it calibrated. anybody any ideas? No big deal since it all plays fine with the keyboard but gamepad would just make it a better experience..

Both Crusader games work fine in wine as well without any alterations..

Fenixp: So, is there an easy way to get the new GOG installer working with Wine properly? Also, keep in mind I'm a newb.
If you run it using the /nogui flag, the installer should run without a hitch within a built-in "safe mode".
Small update:

Duke Nukem 3D runs natively on my Archlinux with the eduke32 engine, but doesn't run on Playonlinux, somehow I think that script isn't up to date... but it doesn't matter since it runs natively! There's also a arch package to install the high resolution pack.

(Thanks GOG for the free giveaway!)

Also, Urban Chaos now is playable, but doesn't scale correctly, and I can't see the videos anymore. I'm getting somewhere!

The PlayOnLinux script is up-to-date (GOG switched to their v2 installer just before the giveaway), but it's not tested on Arch.
Okay, so it's some problem on my end, well doesn't matter, I'm using eduke32 anyway :D Thanks again for the scripts ptchema!

News:

The Jupiter Incident: Installs and runs really well, but the game froze when I tried to start a multiplayer server, I still need to test joining a multiplayer game. Still, everybody can enjoy singleplayer!

POD Gold: Installs and runs fine (without a playonlinux script). BUT, I don't know how to do network multiplayer, since I can't select that. Split screen runs fine, and this is the best feature of old racing games anyway.

Screamer 2: Installs fine but doesn't run (yet). Neither through wine nor directly with DOSbox, I'll see if I can find out why soon.
Sad relevations:
XIII has one level that doesn't have correct lighting. You can get past that one with savegames of later levels though.
See my original post: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_games_that_are_working_fine_with_linux_wine/post247

There's a bug report for this open, hoping it'll soon be fixed!
I do not know if it already posted somewhere in gog.com's forum but you can use this software under GNU/Linux:

This is AWESOME! Great project! Sadly I don't have the time to test it right now, but I will do so soon!
Got Racedriver GRID running with WINE 1.5.31 on Ubuntu 12.04 64 Bit. Crashes every now and then and is somewhat sluggish. After I switched almost everything off/low, it was playable. So if you can live with occasional crashes - go for it! :-)

SERIOUSLY?? That is cool!
Got Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams running! See WineHQ how to get it running (separate WINEPREFIX and installation of packages "xact_jun2010", "wmp9" via winetricks). It runs on Ubuntu 12.04 64 Bit with WINE 1.6-rc2. The only thing I noticed so far is, that the girls are not centered in the middle of the screen - it looks like the game camera is a shifted to the top left.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on dark Athena

Wine 1.6-rc4 x64 on Slackware64 14.0

No winetricks needed. Game works flawlessly.

note:
Installer sometimes crashes, so you may want to install the game with /nogui switch.

wine setup_chronicles_of_riddick_2.0.0.10.exe /nogui
------------------------------------------

Assassin's Creed

Wine 1.6-rc4 x64 on Slackware64 14.0

Used winetricks:

winetricks physx
note:
When installing the game, wait for Physx installer to show up and cancel it.
Then install Physx via winetricks.

Game works great, but dx10 has problems. So you will need to start the game from AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe rather than AssassinsCreed_Game.exe.

wine AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe

PixelJunk Monsters works on my Debian PC in wine with a few workarounds.
Information can be found here.
