This a clrmamepro ROM Manager dat file.
I chose to use 'deprecated' format because it is easier to read than XML format.

I've just been informed of an error:
The game folder "ArmA Gold Edition (February 17, 2007)" contains an MD5 entry that shouldn't be there.

I have a database containing about 286 games that are up to date and all the hashes are done (minus a handful of sizeable language packs and Mac installers).

I'll add more as bandwidth allows (I only get 90 GB per month so updating my entire collection takes 3-4 months).

It's in an SQLite file (GOGames.sqlite): http://sourceforge.net/projects/gogdwnmanager/files/?source=navbar

The main download is the tool that comes with the database, but nothing prevents you from just using the data if you are familiar with SQL.

Alternatively, JMich has a more complete database (with over 400 games), but it has a couple of unrelated extra files.

I think he's in the process of getting rid of those.

I will, once I get the exclusions list to like me :( Database can be found here. Games with extra files are Far Cry, Gabriel Knight 2, Litil Divil, The Witcher, Torchlight and UFO:AS.
Thanks guys.

I've added most of your updated files as 'nodumps' - I still need the CRC and SHA1 values to complete my dat though.
If you're able to help me with these, I'd really appreciate it.

Let me known if you can help, and I'll list the files for you.
TIA

The tool (which generates the database) only supports MD5, because it's the only thing that's really needed (the chance of MD5 not detecting a non-malicious file corruption is so low that we're talking about probabilistic impossibility here, you'd have greater odds of having all your backup copies malfunction at about the same time or have your home burn down with your backups).

If you really really want this and think you'd use it, I could fork a non-official version of the tool in Mercurial that supports Sha1 or CRC.

That wouldn't be a lot of trouble as I'd only have to modify one function.

Is it just my copy or is it true that in the setup_total_overdose_2.0.0.2.exe file there is no usual checking when the installer is run?

None of the v2 installers has an integrity check on run. For single file installers, check the digital signature, if it's ok, the file is ok. For multiple files, on the options screen, it should have a "Verify integrity" checkbox.

Darn! This is a step back from GOG... *sigh*
Oh well... thanks for the info, JMich.

Why? Because you can check the single files whenever you wish to, without having to run it, or because you can run the installation without re-verifying the files, in case you are installing it on multiple computers at once?

The integrity check is still there, you just have to start it manually.

JMich:
This so-called digital signature, I assume is part of the properties tab in Windows right? Well, I'm on Linux. What do you mean I can start the integrity check manually?

Not sure if there's a way to do that then :/

There is no such option in Total Overdose.

As I said, multiple file installers only :/ Not sure if/how you can get the windows properties dialog under Linux.

I see. Thanks.

Yes, it's not about file integrity though, it's for my 'preservation' project.

CRC,MD5,SHA1 are the values used in ROM managers and offer a very simplistic way of scanning/renaming your games. With all values stored in the 'dat' file, it makes for a more 'accurate' and 'complete' file, while giving you the option of selecting which hash value/s to use when scanning - CRC is far quicker, both CRC and MD5 have been exploited (probability aside) though.

While I offer the MD5 file types to manually scan a game folder with, using for examples 'md5summer' or 'quickpar', it is a very tedious method if you are just starting to collect GOG or checking your collection. clrmamepro and my dat file offer a 'click start' and 'wait' approach and it will check, rename, move outdated files and then inform you of missing games or updated files per game.
As with your tools though, it's only as complete and accurate depending on the collective input from everyone with games and keeping them up to date.

I'd certainly appreciate your sql files with size,CRC,MD5 and SHA1 support - the more accurate sources I have of all the information I need to collate an up to date dat file, the better. I'm currently using 'SQLite Database Browser' to export and check naming and values against. Will there be updated versions anytime soon - I'm assuming your collection is still growing?

If you wish to try out and generate dats in the meantime, the following is the current list of games I need values for:
Beyond Good and Evil (December 14, 2003) Missing 2.0.0.5 Setup Files

Download and install clrmamepro > http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/
Close any of it's windows until you see the main 6 button program bar.
Click Profiler > Dir2Dat
Uncheck all options except for 'Add MD5', 'Add SHA1' and 'Keep Archives As Files'
Set 'Source-Folder' to the folder containing the game files/extras you want to dat.
Set 'Dat-File' to where you want to save the generated file.
Click the 'Deprecated' radio button.
Click 'Create' and then share the file (in zip) or open with a text editor and post it's contents.

Whatever method anyone chooses to use, I'd be very grateful just to get my missing infos completed. :)
