In a real saga you crush your enemies skulls, not sweets.

The Banner Saga, a unique Viking-themed role-playing game with solid tactical combat mechanics, beautiful 2D graphics that look nothing like any other modern title, and a captivating heart-touching story, is now available 50% off DRM-Free on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac OS X. That's only $12.49 for the next 24 hours!

The Banner Saga invites you to live through an epic role-playing Viking saga where your strategic choices directly affect your personal journey. Make allies as you travel with your caravan across this stunning yet harsh landscape. Carefully choose those who will help fight a new threat that jeopardizes an entire civilization. Every decision you make in travel, conversation and combat has a meaningful effect on the outcome as your story unfolds. Not everyone will survive, but they will be remembered. The game offers you with a variety of over 25 playable characters from 2 different races, human and varl, the horned giants, and your choices in combat will have consequences for all whomever you choose to lead into battle. With the beautifully hand drawn combat sequences and animations, accompanied by an evocative score from Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, the game will immerse you into a fantasy realm inspired by Norse mythology. Make sure to pick this one up, as there are very few modern games as original and engrossing as this one.

Embark on one of the most awe-inspiring journeys that modern gaming has to offer, and take a plunge into the beautiful snowy landscape of The Banner Saga, for only $12.49 on GOG.com. The 50% off Gem Promo offer lasts until Thor's Day, July 24, at 9:59AM GMT.

gandalf.nho: How's the difficulty?

Starmaker: Meh. On higher difficulties combat is conterintuitive immersion-breaking nonsense where you're encouraged to abuse the system, and on easy it's a clickfest. It can be adjusted during play if you're interested in the story/art.
Thanks for the answer
I've got it on steam. Fun game, but I don't like it enough to buy it again on GOG.
Hey! It's the new puzzle game from King! INSTABOUGHT!

LOL :)

Also, great game - buy it up people! And good to see the devs still plan on making the trilogy - I know I'm in for the next two.

Faith: Anyone can tell me how long is this game going?
Depends how fast you play. For the first playthrough it took me about 11 hours, but I was taking my time. However, there are choices that affect the story and party selection, so ultimately it encourages another run. If you are a sucker for overachieving you can try beating the game without anyone dying and stuff, which effectively prolongs the game. Overall my Steam playtime sits around 40 hours, but I was replaying hard (it's worth it tho)

For all, great game, with heart. Recommended.
