Post-nuclear mayhem

Redline, an insane classic post-apocalyptic action game combining first-person shooter and an off-road driving game is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours!

It's 2066 and the world is a different place. While the privileged insiders live in fertile domed cities, the rest of us fight for survival in the wastelands. Rival gangs battle for supremacy, turf control and valuable resources. In order for a young man to succeed he must make the right choices about his future. That's why you want to join the Company. It's on you, rookie. We think you've got the skills, but do you have the guts to go up against the worst maniacs from the Lepers, the Templars, and the Red Sixers gangs? We'll give you a piece, a rig, and let you try to prove yourself. No guarantees, but if you pull this off you might have what it takes to be one of us…

Redline challenges you to take on 12 insane missions in your quest to become gang warlord. Prove your skills in the arenas, eliminate rival gang members, and destroy all who oppose you. It features both vehicular and on-foot combat--jump in and out of heavily armed cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, and turrets anytime during gameplay. Blast rival gangs with over 40 unique weapons, car jack your opponents' ride or climb up to a stationary cannon to blow away unsuspecting punks. On GOG.com, the game comes with a full soundtrack in both high-quality MP3 and FLAC format.

Fight for your life against ruthless gangs in the not-so-bright post-apocalyptic future, on foot and from behind the wheel, in Redline. The 60% off Gem Promo offer lasts until July 29, at 9:59AM GMT.
Dang, I just looked at the screenshots and thought: "I don't know what it is but it looks beautiful!" Then I remembered that it's the exact same thing I thought when it was released here. Had totally forgotten about the game. Bought.

Gotta love that action.
Purchased, Redline has been on my wishlist for a while - thanks to GOG/developer for the promo.
I will probably pass up on the offer...
If you're a fan of Twisted Metal, then you should give Redline a try! It's basically car combat mixed with some FPS action. Redline has an apocalyptic/cyberpunk atmosphere, but with '90s attitude! It was created by the same company that made the mech game Slave Zero.
Son of a twisted nag! Another game I'd probably like if only I could play it! FPS, grumble.

I can't play or look at FPS games. Even watching videos of other people playing FPS game will induce a migraine within a minute.
And I do mean a minute. So many, many games are contra-indicated for me. :(
ok, that makes things easy for me. Now I know that I can safely go for the linux and weekend promos.

At least try to take some solace in the fact that you are not alone. I also suffer from migraines and queasiness when I play or watch FPS games. There are so many brilliant games that I've had to pass up on because of this. :'(

Yup, at times I do get the urge to try out a game and damn the pain! But when the pain and nausea and the pain and light sensitivity and the pain hit...
I've only done it on purpose twice, never, never, never again... :P
Five minutes yay for 24-36 hours of agony does not equate... :P

You should try to tweak your display settings.
I remember playing some old game (Unreal, maybe, or maybe Tomb Raider, or maybe both, can't remember exactly) without 3D accelerated graphics, and after a few minutes I was getting very sick.
But after I patched it so that it was using the smoother, 3D accelerated graphics mode, I was fine.

So it's worth trying things like that, also try to toggle between windowed mode and full-screen. If none of that works, too bad, but I know tweaking things a bit has helped many others.

Mostly motion sickness effect is caused by brains not being able to adjust to visual information that eyes receive. Making the visual information easier to process is the key here. And it's possible to find out what works for you only by trying. For some the issue is blurriness, for some it is the size of the screen, etc. I suppose playing the same game with CRT vs. LCD screen can cause different effect, and so on.
