A point-and-click fix for your brain.

Gray Matter, a glorious comeback to the classic adventure game genre for Gabriel Knight's co-creator Jane Jensen, is available 75% off on GOG.com. That's only $2.49 for the next 24 hours!

Gray Matter tells the story of Samantha Everett, a young female illusionist searching for her lucky break on a road-trip through Europe. When mechanical failure brings her to a halt in the middle of nowhere, she crosses paths with the mysterious and troubled neuro-biologist Professor David Styles. He quickly draws Sam into his world of the inexplicable and the terrifying, where scientific research dabbles in the supernatural.

The game is a classical point and click adventure by all accounts. You’ll explore the authentic, beautifully hand drawn streets and interiors of modern London and Oxford, accompanied by an elegant, haunting soundtrack. See through the eyes of Sam and Professor Styles as your progress through challenging puzzles that will never have you reaching for a walkthrough. Sam’s unique skill set as a magician introduces an original twist on the gameplay as well, allowing you to carefully plan, then execute your illusions and get precisely what you need... out of anyone.

Beat the masterfully crafted puzzles and enjoy the deftly constructed narrative courtesy of Jane Jensen in Gray Matter, for only $2.49 on GOG.com. The 75% off discount lasts until Thursday, October 23, at 9:59AM GMT.

gamesfreak64: lol, just bought it for 2 bucks....

strange adventure.... different and very complicated, got stuck already.... :D

ah well for 2 bucks :D cant do much wrong
The first few minutes were confusing to me too. Mostly it was not understanding a priority issue during the "tutorial". IMHO, it makes sense pretty quickly after and is fairly straight forward after that.

thanks for the fast reply

because it is different then the default point and click i used to play , like indiana jones and maniac mansion (decades ago)
and because some puzzles look very much like the normal hiddenobject games i play ( i have bought lots of those on cd/dvd)
i got confused, i saw the envelope on the door and so i thought to open the envelope with the swiss knife , hoping for a small key to open the door :D
But that only works in HOG (hidden object games) also crowbars are 99% o/t time in the inventory of an average HOG
The old and very first hogs were dumb and had only gazillions of objects to search throught,
nowadays there are better ones , the only part they miss is: zooming in on the letters/objects and the person walking around, the graphics of the newer HOG, eventhough not real 3d are very pretty and well drawn.
And since this game looked like a HOG, and the gem promo price is nice, I decided to give it a try...

The gabriel night anniversary remake plays kinda same i assume?
If it is like this one i might try it when its at sale, cause for now i mainly use my old XP
And the remake doesnot run under XP.

I've been thinking about this game lately.
I've found this interesting YT review about it.
(it shows some of the problems that other users mentioned here)
It looks interesting and I may have to get it at some point. Instead I'm holding out for what I hope is an interesting weekend promo.
Yay! Another one off the wishlist and into the backlog!

This one I had on Impulse from way back when, and am finally happy to have migrated the copy I use to GOG.

Get Paradox on board and GalCiv2 complete edition added to the catalog and that migration project will be complete! :-)
You know GOG, the only reason I still haven't preordered TW3 is because you keep pulling stuff like this where I have to spend that hard saved money.

The reviewer is 90% of the time right ... i totally agree with him, very good review

about the so called slideshows animation cutscenes ...

these are very good, but they just dont fit this kind of game, cause they are meant to be in casual HOG (HiddenObject Games)
I have 150 HOG or so (on cd/dvd all retail bought) and these kinda games use those cutscenes and they fit in perfectly because the whole game is in the same style.
I like those HOG very much.

In this adventure game some 3d animation movies/cutscenes should have been used, then again like they said, those would be costly.
Overall it is a nice game.
