thanks for the heads up.
Just stumbled across a mention of this via RPS. That's pretty cool, especially since I hardly ever played my copy of Sims 3. I don't know; it just didn't gel with me like the two before. Back down the rabbit hole we go again. ;)

I'd still love to see the original Sims collection on GOG, one of these days.
I heard about this elsewhere but thank you for doing such a wonderful service to our community.
Grabbed it just in case. I still had to create an Origin account for my Steam copy of Dragon Age, anyway.

HeDanny: Since then at some point I decided to buy EA games only on their own client. OCD I guess. Everything must be in its right place ... I also think Mass Effect, Dead Space, and Need for Speed are missing games on Steam as well aren't they? That's enough for me not to take the risk.
Product keys for EA-published games on Steam can be activated on Origin through the client, one of the online activation forms or by manually contacting EA support. Some newer EA games automatically unlock the Origin version when logging into an EA account on the Steam version.

Games that do not list EA as the publisher on Steam aren't valid for Origin activation.

See PCGamingWiki's List of Origin-redeemable games for a list of games and the redemption methods; this list is not a complete and product keys for some versions might not activate through the listed method.

Arkose: Product keys for EA-published games on Steam can be activated on Origin through the client...
Thanks mate. I was vaguely aware of that, but never paid it any real notice. That was not really the point I was trying to make. Maybe I wasnt clear enough. For example. Dragon Age 2 is an EA game. This is not available on Steam. The only way to get it, is to get it on Origin. If I have to get Dragon Age 2 on Origin, I will get Dragon Age on Origin as well so all my games from that series are in the same place.

Another reason I didn't really ever look too closely at the Steam Key on Origin. I buy a game on Steam, in order to get the key I have to have that game on my Steam account. I.. don't want a game on my steam account for the reasons I just mentioned. I am not goign to buy Mass Effect on Steam, take out the Key, and then put that key into Origin, as it means I still have Mass Effect on Steam, with out Mass Effect 2, or 3, which is the exact thing I am trying to avoid.

I definitely considered it for the current Heed for Speed sale tho! Hot Pursuit and Shift 2 are two games on my Origin Wishlist.

Since I had time today, I got around to testing this out. And I'm pleased to say that it works great on my Win 8 computer (Nvidia graphics). :)

While you can run it without Origin, you need to authenticate the game over the internet once first, or it wouldn't start. If you wish to play it anywhere, offline, then the usual less legit workarounds are required. And, Securom is indeed installed in your system too.

Surprisingly, Origin doesn't seem too bad for now. Perhaps, it's because I do not actually require it for this title.

javier0889: I think only ME3 is missing on Steam.
And Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3, at least. Kind of annoying how EA has 2/3 of several trilogies on Steam, but if you want to complete them, you have to split the games between two clients. :/
Yeah, it seems like SecuRom is included :( I love how EA wrote in their EULA (I am translating from french, so the actual sentence in English is certainly not the same) : "If EA deems your licence invalid, you may not be able to use the Software. Reports signal that some computers may have encountered technical problems after installing the SecuRom DRM. By installing the Software, you acknowledge accepting all the future risks related to its usage."

Additionally, I would like to remind you not to forget to deauthorize your Origin games when uninstalling them :
http://activate.ea.com/deauthorize/
I would be interested in The Sims 2 if it was DRM-free, but I don't want SecuROM on my computer.
Securom? Ouch.
I tried it, some tutorial mission. There was plenty of loading screen, it was automaticly in finnish (well because I'm finnish) which was weird because rarely games are translated but the game seemed instantly boring. Well, few minutes hardly gets me an accurate opinion but I still ask why is it so popular?

Dunno, I don't like this genre, so I avoid installing it, it's boring for me too.

The initial loading time is because the game is loading all the expansions/stuff packs (which are many). The rest depends on your imagination. You can kill your sims in atrocious ways if that's what you like, manage their lives, build thier housing, create a commercial or leisure area and so on. A lot of the game is based of what YOU CAN IMAGINE.

Can you finish it, is there some goal?
