omega64: They haven't. You're safe if you turn off Uplay cloud saving though.
I honestly don't understand how they can have a "feature" that broken for so long and still not do anything about it. It certainly doesn't make me confident and safe for clicking a checkbox on their client when they don't fix stuff they know it's broken, but that's probably just me.

darthspudius: I would buy it on Steam. Running directly through Uplay is just a pain in the ass. Two DRM's who gives a s**t! Aslong as the game is fun and easy to keep upto date. Which through steam it is.
Well great, we now have the official response from the Steam sycophants, thank you.

The DRM platform agnostics still maintain that uPlay is the simplest way to go, since buying from Steam does nothing except add Steam for no good reason. The game is fully updated already, it is very unlikely there will be more patches for Far Cry 3.

"Uplay is needed for the PC version."

From the horse's mouth. I'm afraid, yes uPlay is enforced on the PC version.

Elmofongo: Which includes Origin sadly and the funny thing is Origin does not Show" Uplay required" on their System Requirement page.

How long you think will it take until Ubisoft relelases this game here considering we have the 1st two games?
I hope soon! Ubisoft has been pretty good with releasing games here, but I don't know - how many uPlay DRM'd games have been released here?

It's pretty lame of Origin not to mention in the system requirements that a uPlay account is needed, but that seems par for the course, unfortunately.

Even more egregious, IMO, was when I bought Max Payne 3 on DVD - a physical copy - and Rockstar *required* not just a Steam account to install it, but a Rockstar Social Club account as well.

0, AFAIK. Still waiting for Assassin's creed 2.

Try playing GTA IV on Steam. :P
Rockstar Social Club, Securom and GFWL.

Fenixp: Take a look a couple of posts above - no reason not to get it uPlay only, the installation is now automatic and fine. However, if you get the game on Steam, it'll get added to your uPlay account as well, so there's also that, you may try both.

omega64: Uplay sees that as a different copy. I own Valiant Hearts via Steam and Uplay refuses to launch it by itself. It insists I need Steam.
I think Uplay may have changed that up in the last couple of weeks, I remember reading something about that in the patch notes that fixed the patching as well , something about showing all games now.

Oh piss off. I've tried running these uplay games through the program without steam and I don't know why but the program runs like shit and just demands Steam. Even then their update system has been screwy since it was released. So stick your "Steam Syncophants" and shove it up your lubed backside.

Cheers!

I thought they deactivated the drm for that game?

Aha, you're right - when I try to launch Blood Dragon via uPlay, it starts up Steam, which then... Starts uPlay? What the fuck, Ubisoft?

Nah, it still bitches about rockstar social club and kinda sorta emulates GFWL. Just tried yesterday. It's still terrible.

I never had a problem with GFWL to be honest. As an avid xbox 360 user it suited me fine. But Social Club was just feckin annoying. I thought they deactivated it.
Both Max Payne 3 and GTA4 are still requiring Rockstar Social Club. And that is broken and you have to jump a lot of hurdles to make it work.

Steam it's still launching UPlay, as UPlay, just simplified the process by integrating the Steam login to their client. But Steam/UPlay it's there.

I could of swore that Social club was made redundant. I got an email ages ago saying that it wasn't required to play the game anymore or something. Maybe it is and it just installs the thing anyway.

When the game requires uPlay, with or without Steam, only a true Steam sycophant would actually recommend to add Steam to that DRM pile.

You can't run Far Cry 3 without uPlay. Do you have a hard time understanding that?

You didn't bother to read the actual arguments in this thread did you? Even though he didn't elaborate on it, he actually had a point with the patching. You not knowing/recognizing that does not make him wrong.

Stop assuming what I did or did not do.

There are no more patches for Far Cry 3, but it there were uPlay patches just fine. WTF?

It's just so hard to imagine someone continuing to make arguments that were already refuted and doing so after already knowing that, but fine, you're right, I shouldn't *assume* why you're doing that.

Already mentioned this point above (which you already read, right?), the Uplay client itself had archaic patching as well, it's not just the games. And even then I believe the games didn't always download to the latest version, they downloaded and then still needed to be patched with older updates, one at a time. There's a good reason they fixed up that part of their client recently, it was horrible.

Refuted doesn't mean that you or some Steam sycophant doesn't agree with me. I don't know what word you are looking for, but not refuted.

You *think* Far Cry 3 isn't patched when you buy it from uPlay. You *think* uPlay has a "bad" patching system. You *think* a lot of things, but that's not actually refuting. That's just confusing your opinion for facts. Which they are not.

I don't like uPlay, I don't like Steam, I don't like Origin - but I use all of them and they all patch just fine.
