TheCheese33: Xbox Support has tweeted that it's just Episode I. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
So it's nothing new since the thread a year ago I linked to a few posts up.

Yet some people say its the whole package.

Dammit. Sorry if this is indeed the first episode only. I have no way to test this stuff.

KavazovAngel: Okay... So...

1. Log in at xbox.com.
Well, I fail step 1.
Guys, this thing is real. Few people from Neowin confirmed it! :)
Just a damn shame that it's also PC-free.
I think crap like this earned some accounts a short ban a few months ago in addition to getting the content pulled. Fable 2 is like 10 dollars now days, if you somehow haven't played it it's cheaper than a movie ticket or many Live Arcade games.

KavazovAngel: People are reporting that it is a 6.59 or 7gb download, so it should be the whole game. Sorry if it turns out not to be the full package.
Well it shows 7gb on the marketplace page and I'm pretty damned certain that the episode 1 thing was only 2gb
Didn't work for me. I got this message:
Sorry

This item is not available for purchase from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web.
I read that it's not available for free anymore.
Yea, they must have fixed it. It was free yesterday, so congrats to those that got it. :)
So if this was a mistake then I suppose some people are going get booted.
Really not any different than the mistakes PC digi retail has had many times. So far as I know nobody was fired over any of those.
Well it definitely works, I got it overnight and can load my save just before the end of the game

Well its never happened with all the other times things have been accidently made free. I've gotten some DLC and an arcade game or 2 for free because of this sort of thing. Ultimately if microsoft have fucked up, they can't punish their customers for it, there's been nothing that violates the terms of service, no hacks, no account sharing, no single player cheats (oh wait, wrong company), just people taking advantage of a mistake. Its not really any different than how I got my Rosella for free because the pet shop only charged us for the enormous cage, they can't come to my house demanding I pay them what they forgot to charge me (well they can but I'd just laugh and close the door).

Call me a cynic if you like but I think this might be a viral publicity thing (fable 2 that is, not my rosella), it can't be a coincidence that fable 3 is due out in a fortnight and its not like fable 2 was just put up as a downloadable game, someone must have made a change to the database involving the game for this to have happened and there's no new DLC coming that might explain it

I remember a certain minigolf game on steam...

And how many times have we seen pricing mistakes, where something is put at $1 for an hour before Steam or whoever realizes "Oh, that was supposed to be $10."

Hell, I got a totally free copy of the original Mafia when Direct2Drive screwed up their Mafia 2 pre-order promotion, and it's still in my account.
