Thanks for this explanation - it could have come a little sooner, but I'm happy you are still listening!
Lack of clear answers bothered me much more than the delay in release...

shmerl: Can GOG guarantee that it will appear here once you'll start selling Linux games later this year?
That is common sense, obvious.
Thank you very much for reacting. That was exactly what we wanted. A clear explenation and not a drop of us as simple costumers just because we are simple costumers. But that was the picture we got from you and Larian through the missing open conversation. Just communicate more for the next time. Then, things like this won't happen again and we have more reasons to love GOG.

Also thank you for everyone who spoke up.

JudasIscariot: We'd like to make sure that our reasons for delaying Divinity: Original Sin are clear. The game has multiplayer features to play with friends online. In the future, we will be supporting such multiplayer features in new games thanks to GOG Galaxy (and bringing you more games along the way), however, as of today we do not provide multiplayer backend and components for games.

We did not believe it would be fair to offer you a version of Divinity: Original Sin that does not include these features, we also, without a doubt, underestimated the number of people who would want to play the game regardless. We wanted to make sure that the GOG.com community gets the complete Divinity: Original Sin experience.
Guys, your voices have been heard. We have to admit that we should have done it differently!

We will release Divinity: Original Sin in the next few days. We are working on the Windows version of the game right now and waiting for the Mac build to arrive. The version of Divinity: Original Sin that will be available for sale, will be complete content-wise, and will allow for local/direct-IP multiplayer, but will come without the online matchmaking component and game auto-updating, which will be introduced as a later updates.

Please bear with us and sorry for not providing full explanation in the first place.
Welll there we go easy way to quell the speculation :D
Its things like this that make it hard for me to hold grudges against GOG, even if they ever did do something on the scale of EA. When GOG does something stupid, they bow their heads, say I'm sorry, and actually do something about it.

Good going guys!

(not that this effects me, as I was a KS backer)

Practice shows, that common sense fails here at times ;)

This was NEVER in your purvey to do.... YOU OVER STEPPED YOUR BOUNDS you have no right to arbitrarily decide to withhold games after they have been released by the dev.

FUCK YOU FOR DOING THIS GOG...

However it's no longer any great shakes.. if I have to use a client from now on because the games demand it.... then there's no point in using yours considering it will be inferior to steam and steam will be updated first... I would still have bought the odd game from you that had no MP requirement... but after this... NO Chance.

You don't fuck over your customers then say sorry and expect everything is fine.

Do you realise the shit you caused?

EDIT... you do realise Larian though you'd be launching Galaxy with this game (or at the same time) THAT'S WHY we got a shitty version because you didn't.

YOU HAVE HAD A DIRECT IMPACT ON MY GETTING THE FULLY FUCTIONAL PRODUCT THAT AM DUE... THIS IS YOUR FAULT.

hehe ;)
just as they will bring multiplayer match-making and auto-updating (thru galaxy) they obviously will bring the linux variant when the general linux support will launch at a later date.

Well, it's a shame you didn't handle this situation better. I just bought it on Steam so I can play it with my brother. We're very eager to try out the co-op mechanic. Some other time then, GOG. =(

I'm pretty sure they did that in accordance with Larian, yeah it was a really stupid Idea but saying sorry and releasing the game asap is the best they can do now.

Honestly that is a lot more than you can expect of Steam in the same situation.

Of course they do, that's why it'll be out in the next few days. Throwing a bunch of 'fuck yous' at GOG after they concede to the wishes of their customer base isn't going to help foster any sort of good will.

:-P
I am curious... Will the gog release have the option of all the dlc that steam has as well? I saw that they have a $9.99 pack available on top of the regular game purchase.
Hope the CE version/upgrade DLC will be released here too
Awesome news!
I've been wanting to try this game out for ages (been a fan since Divine Divinity), but sadly I missed that there was a Kickstarter for it so I was just hoping for a non-Steam version to come out. And here it is, I don't even have to wait for August/September. ;)
Thanks for listening to the community!

(P.S. This was my first post on here, it was worth breaking my zero-record!)
