Imagination in innovation--GOG.com & CD Projekt RED Special Event, October 2012

Here, at GOG.com, we believe in innovation. We know that even the perfect things can be improved. This Thursday, October 18 at 6 PM GMT, join us in our CD Projekt RED and GOG.com Special Event live stream. Guillaume Rambourg, managing director of GOG.com, joined on stage by a special guest, will announce the next big step in the games' distribution market. As usual, we will also reveal some of our exciting upcoming releases!

Once we're done developer CD Projekt RED will take the stage of the live stream to share news of their own about The Witcher 2, their in-development modding toolset called the REDKit, and even some tantalizing new details about the upcoming Cyberpunk® RPG that they’re working on.

Anyone looking to watch our conference should go to www.gog.com or www.facebook.com/gogcom at 18:00 GMT (That’s 14:00 in New York , 11:00 in Los Angeles, and 20:00 in Warsaw--still unsure? Here's a countdown clock!) to check it out streaming live. Don't miss out!

einexile: The lack of clarification on the DRM issue is starting to give me the creeps also. The one thing GOG could add to the DRM industry is standardization and transparency with respect to rootkits, revoke policies, and eventual removal of the DRM in question. What if we could replace the current tangle of SecureROM, Tagès, and all that muck with a single open source system which reliably adds revokes on a monthly basis and expires on its own after two years? Not in my GOG, though. If they're going to try something like this it should be a new brand. We didn't mind DRM on the Witcher games because those editions never appeared within the bounds of GOG proper. Let's hope the folks in charge understand the distinction and how important it has become - not just to us but to every gamer who will ever live, whether they realize it or not.
Lack of clarification?

Okay: No. We're not adding any form of DRM to your games. Ever.

Clear? ;)

I know you're not supposed to spoil the surprise in a few days, but could you answer this:

Is the new change going to be revolutionary, or just evolutionary?

What i mean is, is it something that epic, or is it just a standard change, which would still be nice, but i just dont want to get overhyped about this announcement....

gameon: snip
They wrote that it will be the biggest change since coming out from beta so it would hint revolutionary change....But on the other hand - I don't remember anything really significant to the service when coming out of beta...

mondo84: Is anyone willing to live stream themselves watching the GOG.com live stream? I'd pay to watch that.
Heck, we could go for an infinite loop of people livestreaming themselves watching others livestreaming the GOG livestream and try and make the internet implode. ;-)

Fuzzyfireball: ...Where the fsck is TET's hat?
In the past couple of videos he seems to traded his pork pie hat for hair. Surely there must be a compromise between the two. Pork pie shaped haircut, that's the stuff.

Answer me this: if it wasn't epic, would we use the white backdrop? Would we?
I love how GOG ads/promos are so satirical. Never change.
I must applaud gog for straying away from the industry with these kinds of videos. Please continue with these odd teasers.

So the white backdrop is a joke about Apple, then?

OSX support confirmed?

It's like the matrix scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMI1QUjRs7M

Now that would be mind boggling.

Crystal .. not there is anything wrong with that :)
Here is how you make it even better.

Grim fandango and the system shock series. And if you are feeling generous, Day of the tentacle.

That Is all.
I wouldn't mind a steam-like client if it worked a bit like a museum/shrine for the games bought... not unlike the front-end for Activision Anthology, with some additional functions such as downloading the games, and easy install some fan-patches (widescreen/windows/mods etc).

blasphemy ... go away troll
Maybe they will make the games stream on the cloud and only install necessary files to play the game on any type system.
