First closed beta access keys distributed today!

We're excited to announce the launch of the closed Windows and Mac OS X multiplayer beta of CD Projekt RED's board game tie-in to the universe of Geralt of Rivia - The Witcher Adventure Game. Participants of the closed beta program will be among the first to help test and refine some of the multiplayer components of our upcoming GOG Galaxy service. The number of beta access codes we'll send out today will be limited, and the recepients will be picked among the users who have pre-ordered [url=http://www.gog.com/thewitcher3/en]The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com (each selected participant will be getting a set of two keys: one for them and one to give away to a friend). With the distribution of next batches of invitations planned as the event advances, players interested in joining the tests can still navigate to GOG.com/Galaxy and sign up for a chance to participate.

The Witcher Adventure Game takes players on a journey across the world of the Witcher as they assume the roles of four distinct characters known from the books and video games: Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer; Triss Merigold, cunning sorceress; Yarpen Zigrin, dwarven warrior; and Dandelion, roguish bard. Each character has unique skills and multiple ways of overcoming obstacles - the choice is yours: do you fight your way to victory, call on your charm or try your hand at diplomacy? It's the true spirit of board gaming brought straight to your computer screen. Set in the mature and brutal world of The Witcher the game features 4 unique heroes with different skills and approaches to problem solving. With clear, simple rules and intuitive mechanics, tons of quest cards allow players to tell a new tale every time they play. Look adventure in the eye in a world you'll fall in love with!

The purpose of the beta is to test both The Witcher Adventure Game as well as some parts of the GOG Galaxy online infrastructure powering the multiplayer portion of the digitized board game. Over the course of the beta, new cards, mechanics and improvements will be added to polish the game further and deliver you the best possible experience - if you find yourself among the number of beta testers, please stay with us and check for updates regularly. We really do count on your feedback!

Finally, a short but important notice: while the beta is limited to the online portion of the game only, rest assured that the full game will also feature single-player modes such as “hot seat” and “human vs AI”. In other words yes, the game won't be exclusively multiplayer, and you will be able to play it offline, outside our optional GOG Galaxy client.

figgymanna: I thought Witcher 3 pre-order guaranteed you two beta keys.
Yes, this is correct - every user who pre-ordered TW3 on GOG will receive two keys: one for them and one for their friend. We're only just started sending the keys out, so they will be delivered in batches, to scale everything properly and offer best possible game stability and experience :). Nevertheless every person will receive their two keys and it's not going to be a very long wait - don't worry!

Jiyad: (given)
I've got my key a couple a days ago, but don't have a friend who's interested in trying the adventure game. If anyone who haven't pre-ordered the witcher 3 and is interested in having the other key, plz pm me.

I'm curious because the stream of all the posts about people not getting their keys seems to have dried out and there were problems with my purchase to begin with (some issue with the payment system) so I didn't get all the stuff automatically.

So what's the game like? Or is there an informational embargo at the moment?

Is it fun?

If you go back on this thread five or six pages (with the usual settings) and ignore the "where are my keys" posts, you can find some impressions of the people who has played the game.

Thanks! I found Sinistar's review there, although it's more of the mechanics review rather than the pacing/how fun it is in the long run.

I think that was one of the first, there should be a couple more, but my memory might be wrong.

And have you tried the game yet? :) If yes, how did you like it?

No. I'm not exactly a social person and rarely would have the time to be a social player. :-)

I just hang around to see how GOG is handling this and whatever news appear of Galaxy.

Ah, right!

I, on the other hand, really like board games, but I prefer to play them with people IRL because that way you won't get sore losers or quitters, you know how's the multiplayer sometimes - but I'm hoping that with GOG there'll be more mature players, so it would be more like IRL. And the talking, I always miss the conversations and looks.

I think game in the end will not be restricted to GOG users only, so you will encounter different situations, just like in any other game. Still, it could introduce some kind of player rankings to make such quitters feel more punished.

I was lucky enough to have a receptive audience - neither a sore loser or a quitter - in the form of my brother who was keen to play. We got in two fairly long sessions, one for his birthday and another four days later for mine.

We had a blast. I'm sure with 4 players instead of 2 it could be even more fun. Some good thought went into the game and I think it would hold up well as a physical board game. We had some technical issues that cut some of the games short, but once everything is worked out I will likely buy the full retail game.

Great conversations in the dialogue window, but the looks are indeed missing. :)
I will take one key with pleasure! So if somebody will be so kind i can play with him or whatever :) thank you very much!
