First closed beta access keys distributed today!

We're excited to announce the launch of the closed Windows and Mac OS X multiplayer beta of CD Projekt RED's board game tie-in to the universe of Geralt of Rivia - <span class="bold">The Witcher Adventure Game</span>. Participants of the closed beta program will be among the first to help test and refine some of the multiplayer components of our upcoming <span class="bold">GOG Galaxy</span> service. The number of beta access codes we'll send out today will be limited, and the recepients will be picked among the users who have pre-ordered [url=http://www.gog.com/thewitcher3/en]The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com (each selected participant will be getting a set of two keys: one for them and one to give away to a friend). With the distribution of next batches of invitations planned as the event advances, players interested in joining the tests can still navigate to GOG.com/Galaxy and sign up for a chance to participate.

The Witcher Adventure Game takes players on a journey across the world of the Witcher as they assume the roles of four distinct characters known from the books and video games: Geralt of Rivia, monster slayer; Triss Merigold, cunning sorceress; Yarpen Zigrin, dwarven warrior; and Dandelion, roguish bard. Each character has unique skills and multiple ways of overcoming obstacles - the choice is yours: do you fight your way to victory, call on your charm or try your hand at diplomacy? It's the true spirit of board gaming brought straight to your computer screen. Set in the mature and brutal world of The Witcher the game features 4 unique heroes with different skills and approaches to problem solving. With clear, simple rules and intuitive mechanics, tons of quest cards allow players to tell a new tale every time they play. Look adventure in the eye in a world you'll fall in love with!

The purpose of the beta is to test both The Witcher Adventure Game as well as some parts of the GOG Galaxy online infrastructure powering the multiplayer portion of the digitized board game. Over the course of the beta, new cards, mechanics and improvements will be added to polish the game further and deliver you the best possible experience - if you find yourself among the number of beta testers, please stay with us and check for updates regularly. We really do count on your feedback!

Finally, a short but important notice: while the beta is limited to the online portion of the game only, rest assured that the full game will also feature single-player modes such as “hot seat” and “human vs AI”. In other words yes, the game won't be exclusively multiplayer, and you will be able to play it offline, outside our optional GOG Galaxy client.

figgymanna: I thought Witcher 3 pre-order guaranteed you two beta keys.
Yes, this is correct - every user who pre-ordered TW3 on GOG will receive two keys: one for them and one for their friend. We're only just started sending the keys out, so they will be delivered in batches, to scale everything properly and offer best possible game stability and experience :). Nevertheless every person will receive their two keys and it's not going to be a very long wait - don't worry!

henriquejr: I preordered TW3 on 6th June, and today I received my beta codes.

While there's life, there's hope !

:)
Purchased on June 5 and no keys... RNG dicerolls apparently don't like me
Preordered The Witcher 3 on 10th June and still no keys. Seems like a long wait after all.
I've just finished 4-players game with 3 quests (= 2 hours) and I think it was quite a good fun.

"1 quest" mode could be good for start - but it's too quick (I think) to get into late state of game. Too much "rushing".

On the other side "3 quests" could be too long for some people (for 4 players at least) - I think we need "2 quests" mode implemented for such parties. :)

The thing this game is lacking the most for me is "negative interaction" between players - I played a few games already and there was no such cards to allow that (maybe these which allows to move symbols on the map but I need to get deeper into these situations).

http://forums.cdprojektred.com/forums/118-The-Witcher-Adventure-Game-Beta is a good place to start if you wish to leave some feedback relating to the game itself :)
Just played my first game. I did not have a single clue what was going on. Too many symbols. Is there a giude/legend map for me to refer?

I'm afraid not really - at least no detailed one. 1st game for me was also the worst. After it, I watched in-game tutorial a few times, then went to YT to watch some videos. That's all.

Thanks! Already posted some of my 1st impressions there. I need to play TWAG more times, in order to fully understand the game :)
also is there anyway to change the resolution. I am stuck at 720p

voljin1987: also is there anyway to change the resolution. I am stuck at 720p
After you start the game launcher, hold down CTRL+SHIFT while clicking on "Play" and a configuration program pops up. I'm sure they will make that a thousand times more intuitive and user friendly before the game releases though. :) Alternatively you can search the Windows Registry and edit the resolution values directly, as well as toggling fullscreen/windowed mode.

If anyone tries windowed mode though keep in mind that the game is very unstable if you switch to another application while it is running due to problematic interactions between the Unity engine and the GOG multiplayer library (according to CDPR devs) so it is best to avoid both ALT-TAB and windowed mode while the game is running. Hopefully they'll fix that in a future build also.

that did the trick thanks.. also getting the hang of this. BTW initial impressions appears that the dwarf is OP. 2 extra wound slots and his special ability to call two cards makes him quite resilient compared to others.
I like to have an update on the "pre-order of witcher 3" get 2 beta code status...I got the gift of witcher 3 pre-order, and my friend said yet had not received the beta codes in his mailbox.

can anyone from GOG official staff, check if Jun 20 pre-order people are all given the beta codes?

thanks.

GOG has mentioned a few times now in the forums that the beta codes are given out in batches spread over time and not all at once. This is common for beta software although it seems some people buying The Witcher 3 preorder to misunderstand the beta offer as being something immediate. Nonetheless, the codes are delivered in batches over time as CD Projekt RED needs more feedback for the game so if someone hasn't gotten a code yet they just have to wait until they are a part of a future batch of codes dished out.

I've got my key a couple a days ago, but don't have a friend who's interested in trying the adventure game. If anyone who haven't pre-ordered the witcher 3 and is interested in having the other key, plz pm me.
