bansama: Hmm, I wonder if they changed the extra secret skill you can get on New Game+ for the DRM free version or whether they just omitted it?

Those who know what that skill is, will know why I'm asking. Shame there's no spoiler tags on this forum as I don't really want to spoil what that skill is for those with the Steam version.
I somehow suspect this skill wasn't in the XBox Live version either...

SirPrimalform: when I asked them a few weeks ago if the game was coming out anywhere but Steam they said it was going to be DRM free on GG. It probably is really DRM free apart from GG's stupid downloader.

orcishgamer: It is fucking awesome and you should buy it!

No really, it is that cool. We're talking Braid level of artwork, gameplay as fun as you had with Diablo, and the narrator, oh man, that guy is awesome.
Awesome. Bought it an hour ago, then got immediately sucked into playing it, and it's been great so far. Also seems to be completely DRM free (as advertised) as far as I can tell. Looks like my weekend just got booked up.
Demo was okay... it's one of those games I always used to buy because they were unique or interesting but then never really played. I am trying to avoid that now, so I am skipping Bastion for the time being.

To its defense, its pretty short (about 13 hours doing everything on the first play through) so it shouldn't be too hard to get it and play it quickly enough :P

DaoJones: 100% agree with this man though I do think the artwork is better. :) He did miss the soundtrack, though. The soundtrack is... wow. You can check out the soundtrack here: http://supergiantgames.bandcamp.com/

Played Bastion for a few hours last night even though I intended to only play it for one hour. One of those few moments where I kept thinking "one more level" and notice it's many hours past the time I wanted to be in bed. :)
Wow, the soundtrack is good :D Had it playing in the background whilst I was surfing the net and even got my Dad to listen to it and he loved it too

And damnit, you're all bad people. I might have to go buy Bastion now >_< So much for not buying games for a while
I preordered it on Steam after I saw the trailer. The background track From Wharf to Wilds was what originally made me want it. This thread reminded me that I had bought the soundtrack and had it on a USB stick in my backpack.

I like the game, too. It gets lovely if you activate all the gods. The narrator adds to the game.
Is the GamersGate version 100% DRM Free? It says so in the description but i don't trust GamersGate.

And how exactly is it that you circumvent that? I've never bought anything on GG, but I must admit this has me tempted. Isn't it something like starting the installation, then finding the installer file somewhere and copying it somewhere else?

1. Download the file from GamersGate [GG] that downloads the relevant game

2. Put this file on your desktop (or elsewhere you want the temporary files) and run it

3. After the game has downloaded it will attempt to run the installer... don't press anything!

4. Go to where you placed the file and there should be a temporary folder that the GG file created. In this folder is a randomly numbered folder. Copy this numbered folder elsewhere and voila, you now have the installer plus relevant files backed up and ready for installation at any time without the need to use the GG file

5. Complete the installation

Hope this helps

Very much. Thank you :-)
A friend of mine summed up this game in one sentence: "Bastion is Secret of Mana on steroids." After playing through the whole game, and now on the New Game+ segment, I would agree with that statement.

...and even if you're not interested in the game, get the soundtrack. Seriously, you won't regret the money you spend on it!
I found the demo boring really. Not something I want to spend my time on, the demo didn't give me much.
If you like action RPGs then this one is definitely worth getting. Gameplay is a lot better than many other action RPGs I could name and the graphics and sound (esp music and narration) are really top notch. Looking to be indie of the year, and it's not without stiff competition.

Not really one for loot fiends though.

As far as I can tell it's completely DRM free. Once you get the files downloaded there's just a single installation exe, no activation key, and as far as I can tell neither the installer nor the game makes any attempt to contact any kind of activation server. Basically once you make a copy of the installer (so you aren't dependent on the GG downloader) the game is as DRM free as any game on GOG.
