Matewis: I'd have to say Mass Effect 1, which I got to play for the first time this year.
avatar
Elmofongo: On PC did you play Mass Effect?
Yup, on PC. Apart from the wacky loot, repetitive bases/spaceships/mines and the sometimes boring exploration bits with the Mako, I thought it was an absolutely awesome game.
I'd go with Elminage Gothic. It's not often that you see a Wizardrylike, especially on the PC. I wish there would be more Wizardrylikes rather than roguelikes; it's easy to find PC roguelikes; not so easy to find Wizardrylikes.

(There's a reason I backed Bard's Tale 4 and not any other inXile game.)

On Origin. Because I tell you now if you want to play Mass Effect 2 and 3 you HAVE to get all the "Essential" DLC as in the new Campaign/Quests DLC.

Mass Effect 2:

Zaeed the Prince of Revenge

Normandy Crash Site

Firewalker Pack

Kasumi Stolen Memory

Overlord

Lair of the Shadow Broker

Arrival

Mass Effect 3:

From Ashes

Extended Cut (Its Free)

Leviathan

Omega

Citadel

I know this seems too much because this is the reason everyone is waiting for a True Complete Editions of Mass Effect 2 and 3.

MODERN475: So, now that it's after Christmas, what is your game of the year? Just type it down, maybe with a short reason.
Do you mean a game released in 2015 or a game added to GOG in 2015?

Wow ok, that does indeed seem like a bit much :P I really miss the days of single expansion packs. Tell me though, these DLCs, do they add content at the end of ME2's storyline, or does it fit content into the middle of the storyline so speak? Or perhaps both?

I don't own ME3 yet, but my ME2 is on steam.

You dont need all those DLC, Ive had playthroughs without the DLC,have to say after buying every DLC, the differences arent that huge.

Regarding ME 2 DLC: Zaeed and Kasumi are the 2 DLC characters (wont show up in ME 3 if you dont buy the DLC, maybe watch a gameplay of the DLC to see if you like those characters) and Lair of the Shadow Broker is needed (dont know if this is true) if you want to romance Liara in 3, but the rest only gives you some story bits (only buy those if youre really interested in the story or watch a gameplay video).

Regarding ME 3 DLC: If you decide to play ME 3 you dont need to buy all the DLC as well. From Ashes gives you another squadmember (+ 2 missions) and background story of this characters past: Leviathan is only worth it if youre really into the story (it deals with the creation of the main antagonists) and Omega only deals with a minor character of Mass Effect 2 and you only should buy this DLC if you liked her. Citadel is fan service and again should only be bought if you really enjoy the story and characters.
I enjoyed almost every DLC of the series, but you dont need any of the DLC to understand whats happening.

Ah well its ruined since you are playing Mass Effect 1 and 2 on Steam and Mass Effect 3 is exclusive to Origin on PC.

So you can choose to whether get DLC or not at your own discretion.

Cool thanks! I thought the story in ME1 was real interesting, and I definitely wouldn't mind anything that expands upon it, such as anything that deals with the creation of the main antagonists like you mentioned. I'll give Liara a pass though - her head bugs me :P Zaeed and Kasumi certainly look interesting, in particular Kasumi, who reminds me of a character in KoTOR2.

Wut? ME3 isn't on steam? 0.0 Somehow I didn't know about that.

Youre welcome. ;)
Hahaha, as long as they dont start to move Im fine with those "tentacles". xD And dont you dare take that out of context. :P
Hated Zaeed at the beginning, but somehow hes grown on me. ^^

Yeah, you have to get Origin if youre on the PC.

I never really had much interest in ME and didn't bother to follow any of it. In fact, ME1 and ME2 were both gifted to me by a close friend who thought I was nuts.
Before I played Doom I would have said Valhalla Hills or The Last Federation or AI war but now definitely its Doom 1.

I totally forgot how good that game is and after I got it in the last sale its definitely the best ever shooter without unnecessary graphical extravagance. Just love it and the fact that it can run on LInux is great too. Funny isn't me being such great RTS fan and the going for a shooter as a game of the year :)

Even if they don't move, I'm sure they collect all kinds of gunk. Imagine seeing her in the morning scraping out yellow stuff with tentacle cottons the way you clean out your ears with ear cottons... Wouldn't be a pretty sight :P

Its the inside that counts, not the yellow goo on her head. :D

Oh, googling ear cotton will show you this result.

If any game I played for the first time this year : Star Wars Dark Forces

If a game released in 2015 it would be one of:
* Legends of Eisenwald
* Hard West
* Satellite Reign
* Underrail
* Age of Decadence
* Ride (motorcycle racing game)

Honorables: Blackguards 2, Project Cars, Rebel Galaxy, Dirt Rally.

If forced to choose: Legends of Eisenwald.
Its the way it ties in folklore stories together with the game's storyline that really binds the game together for me.
I also liked that you more or less start on a blank page in each chapter, building up your army every time was very satisfying for me.
