Fuck me (sorry), but I just googled to find the Steam re-release for this post and found that an iOS version was released yesterday. Didn't Square Enix say that it will be years before FF7 makes its way to mobile? Okay, I'm buying an iPad right now! No, not really, but I'm stoked that it's on mobile and looking forward to seeing it make its way to Android. Mobile backlog FTW!

I think there is a version of KOTOR for the tablet as well in case you may be interested.
So the foot is in the door at least. Or is that too optimistic?

Feel torn about this: I hate DRM tech almost more than anything else, and yet I've got some original games infected by this modern technology disgrace. In the far future, I guess there will be no choice to get a proper "Windows emulator" working in full, to preserve my old hardware and to collect cd-cracks like there were no tomorrow....

Thanks for the tip, but I bought that the moment I found out about it, which was a few days after it was released. I owned KOTOR on PC but have never played it before. Now I've played some of it on the tablet, although I need to continue. Haven't played much of anything lately. (Edit: not entirely true, yesterday I played an hour or so of Max: The Curse of Brotherhood on the 360. Entertaining the kids is a good excuse for gaming. Probably won't continue, but I feel it was already worth the $2 price.)

But win10 has bigger problem in my opinion - I hoped this new version will be good, and it turned out its just a spyware / build-in trojan =( they can collect all data they want, remove your programms/ etc...

This is FUD (fear uncertainty and doubt) I happen to have thoroughly inspected Win10 in a closed control environment and have signed off on enterprise deployment as of last week. That would have never happened if there was even a "slight" chance of data leakage. That said EDGE and IE are fully disabled and I urge all to do the same :)

They have no control over any 3rd party applications, only the Metro. And as they should given there integration and how they interact with the Kernal. Meaning they cannot uninstall software no matter how hard they try, only applications and not really even then.

As the data collection, everything is controlled via options. Machine identifiers are used when appropriate. The data is truly anonymous, and yes even the telemetry. But you know, you are never hidden if your online. Its impossible.

yeah I saw this "tweakers" that tweak basically what you can do yourself in control panel or easy register tweaks.

People explored outgoing traffic (with external tools - this is important) and there are dozen microsoft IP adresses it sends information to even after you disables\d all this spy "features", what is more important - that they are hardcoded into OS, so even editing hosts files will give you nothing.

I'm getting errors in Sims 3 here and there, the game refuses to run and asks for an update, which never installs, throwing an error too...you mention ME and C&C too, I have some of these also -yet to install them though-, that means now I have a bunch on unusable games?

This is the best news I have heard regarding Windows 10.
(Windows 10 sucks, if you haven't "upgraded", stay away from it - there are plenty of people who are even calling it spyware).

Starting in around 2003/2004, the "AAA"/premium video game industry and big movie/music companies popularized the use of DRMs that were little different from rootkits or malware (but under America's dysfunctional copyright system, the big companies can get away with anything in the name of copyright protection).

A lot of people were dumb and supported that garbage and some of them had their computers malfunction.

In 2010, there was a growing anti-DRM movement. The entire video game industry started discontinuing the use of rootkit/malware DRMs, switching over to account/service based DRM (Steam, Origin, UPlay, etc) or even no DRM.

Here's the problem: There are plenty of good classic legacy games from the 2003-2009 period that have been forgotten by their publishers and developers - who never made an official patch to remove the rootkit/malware DRM bundled with them.

Well now, those publishers and developers have a problem - if they refuse to patch scummy rootkits/malware DRM out of their games, they aren't going to run on the most current version of Windows and their sales of those games will plunge.

About time. Good riddance to rootkit/malware DRM, it should have gone the way of the dinosaurs years ago.
