EDIT: It turns out this is a format problem, not a DRM problem. For those who are using VLC player such as myself, playing the disk and pressing CTRL + L will show a list of all songs on the disk.

I just popped in the disk for the first time ever, only to find that I cannot open up the disk files and choose which song I want to play. I have to instead open up the disk as a playlist in order to listen to anything, which means I can only choose what song to play by clicking either next or back, I can't view it by list. WHAT THE F*** CD Prodjekt??? why did you put such a shitty DRM on the soundtrack disk??? This honestly makes me want to throw away the disk, and just pirate the soundtrack instead.

If you have the game registered here:

go to https://www.gog.com/downloader/listing/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt

and download the soundtrack as either flac or mp3.

I suggest you use

https://www.gog.com/downloader

EDIT

You can only download this way only all goodies or you go via account and just select the music

Regarding the physical disk, you should ask this question on the official forums for the game:

http://forums.cdprojektred.com/forums/36-The-Witcher-3-Wild-Hunt

We only handle the digital release of The Witcher 3 :)
What software are you using?

If the CD is coded with regular Redbook Audio, then just selecting the .cda files directly off the disc won't work with pretty much anything. It's got something to do with the format, not with DRM.

I'm using VLC player.

And it's not showing you the actual list of tracks? Have you tried CTRL+L?

Please tell me you don't use VLC for watching videos too. Use this:

Why would one want not to? It's nice FLOSS software with a decent interface and useful features.

CCCP is nebulous -- no licensing information is even provided on the site or in the FAQ.

Plus, it's arguable about 'system clutter' between codecs vs a program that handles the files directly.

Yep, VLC or MPC(-HC) also don't cause weird codec problems with games.

Actually that worked! I didn't even know about that. Thanks!
My favorite codec pack is the CCCP, which includes Media Player Classic. Never had any problem with it. As for playing music, foobar does its job quite nicely.

Just a few alternatives to VLC (something that i used a long time ago and gave up on it)

I dunno VLC might be a lot different from when I last used it (years ago), but I doubt it's better than a MPC-HC custom set-up. Here's a decent set-up guide if you want perfect quality:

CCCP is nebulous -- no licensing information is even provided on the site or in the FAQ.
What does that have to do with anything?

Unless things have changed since I last checked, CCCP uses MPC-HC, so it's not really nebulous.

That being said I can't find anything useful in the pack myself, so I don't see the appeal. It's very easy to do everything they claim to do manually and nearly in the same amount of time.

Also why the hell people are willing to jump the gun and accuse something they don't understand? What happened to asking for information instead of yelling at the first sight of difficulty?
