well that should be obvious
because the game and assets are still pretty recent
oblivion is more then a decade old no w
and morrowind is a lost cause

bethesda pretty much say so here http://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-skyrim-is-getting-remastered-instead-of-oblivi/1100-6442394
"Oblivion is 10 years old, so the amount of work for that engine and that tech to bring it and remaster it and do all the things we wanted to do was significant," Hines explained. "It's not impossible, but it was mountainous. It was either like, go make an entire new game or do Skyrim."

so thats an awnser to a question nobody was asking
however there is also word on the mods
and that is more interesting

>>Hines also told us how Skyrim's mod support would work on both PC and consoles.

"The idea is that it's exactly the same way [as Fallout 4]," Hines said. "Skyrim Special Edition on PC is free only if you own Skyrim and all of the DLC... It also has a new creation kit. It doesn't just work with all of the existing mods; they will have to take that mod and run it through the new creation kit and publish it to Bethesda Net. Then that would be available on console."<<

mods work on both pc and the consoles but are strictly governed by bethesda
hmmm

and bethesda no doubt will want to govern it pretty hard and charge for mods as well
and take a cut

yeah im gonna opt out of the remaster (assuming they let me )

Does it matter? Surely you've finished Skyrim by now (I have, there's absolutely nothing left to do). It looked nice enough, so this will be an update to a game you'll likely never play again.

Game technically can be defeated very very very very quick
Its all the side stuff... that take people ages.

That is without using "bug" to instant defeat it.

Ok, my mistaken assumption. Personally I found the game was done long before I finally put it down, but if the mods are keeping you going with it (or if you haven't got around to playing it), then all the best with Thomas the Tank engine wreaking destruction on Skyrim until they finally kill your mods off.

According to reports, the special edition will be it's own entry in the library (saves should transfer). So you shouldn't have problems opting out.

its 14 years old by now
if bethesda is unwilling to tackle oblivion
they sure as hell wont take on morrowind

I personally thought Morrowind was better than Oblivion. I wonder what the sales numbers look like, copies of Morrowind sold vs. copies of Oblivion sold? Maybe that could be used as justification to remaster it?
is simple really bethesda are gonna flog it to the gaming public for at least 40/50 pound/dollers and turn everyone over its flogging a dead horse really keep your money in your pockets people, and if you must buy it wait until a sale cos all your gonna do is buy the same broken game that they sold you before, and the sad thing is folks will rush out and buy this tripe just because it looks pretty,my,my how shallow the gaming world has become,i learnt my lesson from that abomination that was fallout 4 even though i got banned from the forums for saying the things that not even a year later folks are moaning about now, check the steam forums and you will see, this is an absolute farce and an insult to the gaming public selling the same game for the same price,or even more because its the "Remastered version" (ooohh the joy) or the very simple answer is the monkeys have run out of ideas :) boycott bethesda games dont part with your hard earned coin.

The point was how much of a stretch they'd have to do to make a true "remaster" by today's standards. Oblivion would be painful, but Morrowind would be completely unfeasible.

Morrowind is newer than System Shock, and look what Night Dive has done there. Still seem unfeasible?

Oblivion is a better game personally, and it shows the folks at bethesda dont like the painful side of work,as the easier option is what they have taken, look at gta5 that game is still full price and even managed to sell it over again nearly two year down the road by introducing the first person mode, aint no different here, same game just looks a bit better, should have redone oblivion.

triple A studios tend to have triple A budgets
crazy but true
and morrowind is an open world game system shock is a more linear affair on a not quite as open space station

and morrowind's graphical assets would need to be build up from the ground
betehsda also plans to take the easiest and cheapest route and flog skyrim for as much money as it can
skyrim is the best selling tes game ever
and it has more name recognition

Those two are not comparable in the slightest. Even only the conversation interface would be a nightmare: the fact that they'd have to overdub miles of text, simplify it down to quick sentences or leave it as is and thus eliminate the point of it all in the first place.
