Lifthrasil: Can't hurt to try. Just write to support and tell them you bought the game under the assumption that it would contain the multiplayer option that it contains on other platforms. And then ask politely for a refund.

...yes, ask. Not demand.

...and yes, politely! They are usually quite accommodating, if you stay civil.
I understand how to do it. But honorably, I don't think I will. It's not GOG's fault ,and I did get the game at a HEFTY discount. I was upset. I'm not unreasonable. :P

Ah, OK.

Perhaps you get lucky and the devs add online multiplayer in some later update.
