It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Downloaded 30gb+ of The Witcher 3, stuck at 90%. Paused the download, restarted the client, no sign of any of the files I had downloaded according to GOG. what the f?

Is there an alternative to this crap I want to spend the day playing not downloading ffs

The client is in beta, so uh, don't expect perfection at this point.

For alternatives, you can download through your browser, and you can also use the Downloader: https://www.gog.com/downloader

I use the last two options. Works well for me.
Hover over ACCOUNT in the top bar, then click LIBRARY. Click Witcher 3 (or any game) then click "MORE" and then "GOG DOWNLOADER LINKS".

Of course, you first need GOG downloader in order for these links to work. I'll link it to you in a moment.
http://www.gog.com/downloader

You download, then install it and run it. Then login to your GOG account. And then click any link on the GOG Downloader Links page.

So in steps:

Step 1: Download GOG Downloader. http://www.gog.com/downloader
Step 2: Install GOG Downloader, and then run it.
Step 3: Login to your GOG account from GOG Downloader.
Step 4: From the GOG website, hover your mouse on ACCOUNT, then click LIBRARY.
Step 5: Click The Witcher 3, then click MORE, and then GOG DOWNLOADER LINKS
Step 6: Click the link to any content you want to download. On some browsers you might have to accept the usage of GOG Downloader to use this link
Step 7: The game is now downloading.

Hope I helped.

Try downloading the game manually or via the GOG downloader. The client is still beta version. ;-)
Use the other client called "web browser"

Downloading games via the web browser doesn't support easy pausing and resuming. Plus in the case of Witcher 3, chances are you'll need to download tons of parted files. Of course I could always suggest a browser + Free Download Manager combo, but I'm betting GOG Downloader is the best alternative available to GOG Galaxy.

Did you check the !Downloads\temp folder? Galaxy downloads the game files to a temporary folder, then once it has everything, it moves them to the installation folder, if you are not currently playing the game. Those files should only be removed when moved to the installation folder, aka when it is done downloading. If the files aren't there, do file a bug report over at http://mantis.gog.com/

Indeed.

But I think the better question is why the web site is so bad. The client is in beta, but the website went live a long time ago and should have been fixed by now.
The web browser version is partitioned into 7 parts, so it can be easily downloaded if your connection is fast enough. Otherwise you can use GOG downloader (it's not actively supported anymore but I guess it will work at least until Galaxy is out of beta).
Don't be rude, there's tons of people here that can help you :)

True, it's gotten slightly better in that I can log in now. But, it's by far the shittiest website for a store I've ever gone to.

I'm sorry, what were we talking about? I was busy staring at the OP's avatar.
Used the other downloader you guys have been suggesting. Got a checksum error after downloading for awhile. Is this the real life? I'm just gonna torrent the game at this point.

Use the other other downloader, the browser.
