Hi, I can't understand that, why gog support bad behavior from devs?

When dev drop support of gog release, GOG just don't care!

Sure, GOG just says 'fuck it', right? They don't try to get the developer to support their games at all, right? That sounds like a great business model.

They likely have little to no control or influence on whether a developer supports a game other than to decide not to sell any of their future games on GOG. But that can likely end up shooting themselves in the foot as well though.
Awesome, so in that logic better buy on steam than on GOG...
Because I really don't know buy new game or not, maybe that game will be dropped in unplayable state after release.
For this reason, I stopped buying games here :(

If it's in an unplayable state after release, gOg have the 30-day refund policy.

Too bad this not applied for dropped games.

Here's a better idea. Boycott the devs who are acting like that.

I haven't seen any proof that GOG wouldn't care. In fact I am quite certain that GOG does care, as it can affect their business. How, in your eyes, should GOG show that they care?

For instance, Breach & Clear: DEADline recently got a massive update to the GOG version (the Rebirth update), at the same time as the Steam version. Before that the GOG version seemed to be abandoned for almost a year, no updates whatsoever (IIRC).

Same with Hands of Fate earlier, it also eventually got the updates and missing DLC that were long overdue.

How do you know these were not achieved by GOG demanding the developers to support their GOG versions, after GOG found out there were missing updates/DLCs?

I think the main issue for GOG is to even notice the GOG version is missing some update, this is where the GOG community seems to help them. I am pretty sure GOG doesn't have some person daily checking out games on other competing stores when they get updates and whether they should come to GOG too. I guess GOG expects the developers to send the updates also for GOG, but if they find out some are missing (e.g. due to the active GOG community), then they get in contact with said developers.

Also, lately GOG seems to have started officially announcing of bigger updates for certain games, to me that is also a sign that they do care.

It's business, not a family. GOG is not the mommy of the devs and therefore the devs don't have to do what GOG tells them. Whether GOG just doesn't care or whether the devs just don't give a crap. Nobody knows.

So what do you want them to do? Stop selling the game maybe?
Gog select games to sell, Gog sells games, I buy them, devs drop support for them, and only option is just accept that and shut up?

P.s. In case that absolutly any game here can be dropped, is easier to just buy them on steam...

It's always "easier" and far, faaaar more convenient to buy on Steam.

You also maintain far greater consumer rights on Steam.

Their sales are far more expansive than GOG's.

Their client works infinitely better as well...

It's the perks of the massive monopoly.

Real men don't buy on Steam. :)

Seems to me like GOG is not really the culprit here but rather the dev which may or may not support its games longer on Steam than on GOG. What could we or GOG do about it?

My experience is that the games I bought and played are well supported by GOG. Maybe you made different experiences. Maybe you got the impression, the devs of the game you bought only really support Steam and not GOG. Well, that's unfortunate and in this case you should use Steam instead.

Anyway, my question again: What do you think GOG should do about it? Stop selling the game maybe?

Real men don't use the phrase "real men".

(Sorry, but I had to say that.)

How would you know? :D

We did ask [about getting a bug patched in the GOG version of a game]. Multiple times, in fact. I doubt I can provide any more details, though.
