At first I thought it was a bug, but it's been like that for years with no change. Why are we not allowed to edit game reviews?

GOG's priorities are elsewhere.

I'll be honest, I would rather reviews are final and you can't edit them. You shouldn't rush to review a game, I always do it after I've played it to the end, and the practice of review bombing as you see on steam because the developer said something about a youtuber, or the publisher forced the developer into an exclusivity deal, is simply the most toxic thing I've seen.

That said, if you really need to change your review I think you can raise a ticket :)

Not sure I entirely agree. For one thing: in development games. Imo, in development reviews should probably be a bit more forgiving and lean a bit more towards the 'potential' the game has. I'm not sure if it is possible to edit reviews, once the game is fully released, but it would be nice.

Also, released games are not necessarily static and fixed in stone. Games can and do get patched to fix issues. If a bunch of people leave negative reviews because a game is buggy on release, then the devs actually patch game to fix the problems, then people should be able to edit and improve their reviews.

I totally agree with the point about 'political' review bombing though (just look at Baldur's Gate 3 ...). I would like to see more moderation of reviews on GOG and those reviews removed.

My opinion about several games has changed dramatically over years. No matter what you think when you first write a review, there's always a chance that the review no longer reflects your view of the game after some time. Also, there's obvious stuff like realizing typos or poor sentence structure etc.

Letting people edit what they put on under their name on the internet, for the benefit of a company, is just common courtesy.

If the only way to fix a review is to bomb the already overburdened support staff, I'd rather not write any reviews at all. Hmm, I've written one and it's horribly out of date. Maybe I'll just ask GOG to remove it.

Because GOG is slow to implement changes and when they do, they usually do it in such a way that you'll rather wish they didn't.
Because the reviews were implemented back when the site was new, and rather than iteratively updating them, they've been rather chiseled into the stones they were built on.
A feature that definitely needs to be implemented. I have to go to steam for reviews because I'm not sure whether or not all the reviews warning me about game-ending bugs are current.

I tend to read the most recent reviews from the past 4-6 months, as they tend to be most current. I have it set to 'most recent' as my default, I rarely look at the 'most helpful'.
My view, is that you should be able to add to your review, but not change it. That would give greater understanding, especially where you have later changed your mind for whatever reason.

No sense in trying to rewrite history.

Reviews should have an expiry date anyway, like 5 maybe 10 years (that is long is it?)
After this time, let it be automatically archived in a ...in a... in a Reviews Archive! Yes!
until game has not changed, than no reason to do this.

as for editing reviews: better to add a new one and archive old one in a safe place

Games are getting updates, DLC`s patches and additional localizations etc.
Games are not paintings or movies,
they (I like games) are changing, so the reviews should.

Well you've already paid for the game, you don't matter anymore.

Excuse me, but what that has to do with Reviews ? :D ( I understand it is about CP delay is it?)

Early Access games should thus be excluded from the review section untill alpha release, which would be a loss imo.
