Judas doesn't wast...errr.. I mean spend enough time here as us but he does hang around the forum more then the other blues so its a good fit. ;)

hedwards: Perhaps I'm missing something here. But, why would the two need to be linked other than the login details? Right now there's very little that I can see in common between the forum me and my account. Pretty much just my rep and login information.

As it is there's precious little that's being shared between the two and I'm sure there's ways of synchronizing the login information and whatever else they really need to share.
one feature which has been removed was the autoadd of the game subforum, so you purchased game xyz, on the community page the game was added to your list.

Otherwise, the game browsing is tide to your account-info, showing which games you own.
Support, maybe, not sure...haven't tried to open a ticket which I don't own ;)

BUT merging is always easier than taking it apart.....

I've been here since shortly after they started. I remember that stupid debacle involving them "shutting" the site down and all that silliness.

And as long as I've been here things have been like that. Rather than improving what they have, they seem to chuck it all from time to time and start over. I would assume that they aren't so much throwing things out as they are merging in a lot of changes all at once, but I would be surprised if the code they're using is properly maintained and readable. It's probably even worse spaghetti code than is the norm.

Really, rather than introducing new features they ought to be either going back and refactoring the code to make it more maintainable or they need to just go with an off the shelf forum until they can afford the time and money to do it right.

Were you here when all that silliness of scripts being embedded in titles was going on? I was absolutely floored that they were taking the titles from the users without sanitizing them.
And all might have been done by a silly mistake ;) Sometimes just ONE wrong bracket can screw everything ;)

I don't know that it's exactly "first class" over there. Back in 2011, they took the forums down to replace them with newer, shiner forums, only to have no forums for 3 months after Witcher 2's release. When they finally came back, they were a phpBB abomination where newbies could (and often did) upvote their own posts and tons of things were broken. For example, if you linked to an outside page and the link ran onto a new line, the link wouldn't work. A lot of problems weren't fixed until the move to even newer forums; the spoiler tags happened to be in Polish (no doubt confusing for the new people), and it's something we just got used to after awhile.

When they finally moved to vBulletin, lots of other things broke. The header image on the 2077 forum was a link to the Polish-language forum for something like a year, and it took that long to fix even though people constantly pointed out how annoying it was. Many users even had the superfluous numbers added to their usernames like what happened here, and when they show up to complain about it over there, they're still directed to GOG to have it fixed. Then there are the bizarre forum rules that completely disallow talk about real-world politics, limiting the kinds of discussions that can be had. I know some would probably prefer that to keep things a bit less argumentative, but I personally like that we can freely discuss anything under the sun here.

Not that the GOG forums are perfect, or even functional most of the time. I just think it would be a mistake to think it's all green pastures over there when they're suffered from similar problems and a near-identical level of apathy when it comes to fixing said problems. We're all loved (or unloved, as seems to be the case) just about equally.

Trilarion: I looked at these posts and did not find anything related to financial laws. Also this would go totally against common wisdom. GOG is a 100% daughter of CDPR, so for all relevant purposes you can see both as an entity, especially in financial matters. I think it is highly unlikely and for all practical purposes impossible that GOG cannot use a feature of CDPR except if CDPR doesn't want it.

Also if you look at the reports of CDPR you see that GOG is fully consolidated and adding to the profit of CDPR. No reason why this could not go the other way around. CDPR == GOG and GOG == CDPR in this case. Everything at GOG happens because CDPR wants it to happen and everything that doesn't happen is because CDPR doesn't want it to happen.

Financial wise the profits, as you said yourself, is going to CDPR S.A, but otherwise they are financial law wise seperate entities. Think of Opel and GM.

Financial law wise, everything is being valued (you also do it do reduce taxes). The value of a product can be deducted from the income over a certain period of time. So, if CDPR would give GOG this software, CDPR would give GOG a positive value, which CDPR would need to add to their balance as well as GOG in their balance. And both of them might get taxed on.

And if I look at the structure, you would be dead wrong, sorry ;)

GOG is the form of Ltd. means normally private English company, z.o.o is the Polish variant, but they all belong too CD Project S.A. which refers too a Polish stock company.

So yes, just ask an accountant how much fun it is to transfer IP and similar between different branches. ;)

Trilarion: Surely not. GOG is a 100% daugther company of CDPR. They can totally share assets any way they want.

There is only one possible interpretation. They don't give GOG customers the nice forum features because they think that GOG customers are happy with it, not because they could not deliver a better experience.

Basically GOG is cheap. Low prices, low service - that is the hallmark of GOG.
To be fair, I don't know of any seller of digital games that has high service. I'm not sure such a thing is possible.

GOG has sacrificed to grow, I guess, including their strong attention to the community. That said they're probably continuing to be swamped with things, having bitten off more than they can chew.

Best of luck to them but stuff like this is a turn-off to me.

Cyraxpt: Have you guys ever visited the CDProjekt Red forums? It's like first class in there while we get this forum where there's not a week where a problem shows up (broken notifications, friends add me spam, gogbears pages, etc).

A quick visit there and:

- You can make quick replies (here you need to use BF essentials for that);
- Spoiler tags exists (again, here you need to use BF essentials for that but it's pointless because not everyone uses it so you would be spoiling to those people);
- You can incorporate images in the posts (perhaps even gifs, i couldn't try it because i need 10 posts and i'm not in the mood to spam just to test it);
- There is a profile for each user so you can check others post history (or even yours, sometimes i want to revisit a thread but can't remember the name);
- No downrep abuse because you can't downrep people there (it has a thank you/red point system that can be abused but who cares);
- Moderators (feel free to disagree here but if you think about it, this forums allows the users to police the forums at their will, it's not better than giving guns to citizens and make everyone sheriffs).

Perhaps there's even better things (or worst) there but like i said it was a quick visit.

So i ask, why this lack of respect for the community here? Can't say that i've been here for too long (1~2 years?) but i'm tired of seeing broken promises, "we're listening and we promise" and yet nothing happens and usually the gog team doesn't even return to those threads or answer back to the rest of the posts.

I was promised a Q&A with the gog team and 39 days later no sign of it, sure, it was said that it was sometime in the future but i was assuming that it wouldn't take that long to group 4 people in order to answer some questions from their customers.

I'm not dumb, i do know that we're the minority so it's easier to ignore us and continue doing whatever has been done all this time, some game releases, some promises and everything is alright.

Note that this isn't a personal attack to the gog team present on the forum (aka "the blue ones"), besides one smart ass i was always been well treated by them and they've been respectful to us, i'm talking about whoever is responsible for the decisions that are made here and the community manager (if that role even exists in their team).

All i'm asking (besides a better forum and i think that we deserve it) is honesty and a bit of your time to, you know, manage the community that has been here for you, buying your games or serving as customer support to other people.
I don't know. I've kinda grown to like the creaking-broken-downness of the GOG forums.

I don't feel like a second-class citizen, I just feel like everything is in beta that isn't directly connected to the financial transaction of buying a game through the website and paying for it.
Every other site aspect - Galaxy, the forums, the account system, every other thing, it's all in beta, with no timeframe for when any portion of it will leave that beta state.

its like this is the test forum before the results are rolled in to the cpr forums and we are left with the dregs

I'm always undecided between "they surely always do their best, so let's just keep them doing it and slap their shoulders" and "if only they would have taken better decisions in the past, they could be so much better now, isn't it so sad".

In truth I don't really know how much better they could be, but I guess there is still some room to improve and everyday they don't improve things, is a wasted day. They (whole CDPR) should ask themselves constantly: are we still on the right track (looking at the state of the forum for example).

Exactly! Remember Witcher 3 release time, there was banning and censoring in the CDP forum because of CDP screwups.(when some website sold keys too cheap, the pre release DRM on gog)
The lack of moderation here is the best thing about this forum. I don't want another forum where the moderators turn into powerhungry little dictators. I rather have a lot of annoying people that have no power.
