So I got some spare money to invest in some good games but I'm in dilemma!

I can spend 50 euros so I'm between pre-ordering Pillars of Eternity basic edition or getting these games, Avernum 2: Crystal Souls, King's Bounty : Legend and Crossroads GOTY, RISEN and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology.

I would like your opinion!

Thanks in advance!

First suggestion. Unless you are going to play them today, wait until the Weekend Promo starts.

Cause I'm new to GOG can you spare some tips for sales etc.?

Thanks!

I'd get all the RPG and strategy goodies (Blitzkrieg and Avernum 2 are in my wishlist) and wait for Pillars of Eternity to be on sale, patched, updated and DLC'd.

Edit: JMich gives good advice, wait for weekend sales.

Thanks!
We have sales almost every friday, and also big flash sales (I believe) quarterly or so?

Several of the older titles you mentioned have been VERY cheap during previous sales.

Check out this site for sales price tracking:

Usual weekly schedule
Monday is Staff Picks day. Collection of games on sale for 72 hours.
Tuesday and Thursday are release days, though that no longer holds true, since we do have releases on other days as well.
Fridays are the Weekend promo days. Collection of games on sale for ~90 hours.
There may be other promos or releases at odd times, but that is independent of the schedule.

Best time to buy would be once Monday promo is announced, so you can get games from both the Weekend and the Staff Pick promo. But as always, if you want to play a game now, and you think the price is good, then do buy it.
Ohh you guys rock! Thank you for your responses!!!

Why pre-order at all? The quantity of digital games is not limited, you don't really know yet whether the game will live up to expectations, in what state it will be at release, and unless I'm mistaken, there isn't even a discount for pre-ordering Pillars of Eternity. If you're not looking for a game to play right now and you can wait for the release of Pillars of Eternity, you can also wait for the first reviews before buying. Or, if you're not in a hurry to play it, wait for discounts, as it seems pretty costly right now and prices usually drop quickly nowadays.

So if you don't really care whether you can play the games now or only later, I'd suggest saving the money and waiting at least for the release of POE, while keeping an eye on weekly promos (maybe the other games will become discounted in the meantime).

Yeah i agree, wait for promos.. If you're usually strapped for cash, wait and only get games at 75% off or higher, that will give you a lot more bang for your buck...

Although if you can't wait, depending on your tastes i got a few recommendations.

Ring Runner - Space fighting/flight action. Always good
Shovel Knight - Suppose to be really good, haven't played much
SpellForce 1&2 - Assuming it comes back for a blip, it's pretty good, lots of hours to play
Sacred 1&2 - Diablo-like clones, good time wasters.
PixelJunk Shooters - Semi flight/action, semi-physics puzzles.
MOO 1&2 - 4X... IN SPACE!
AI Wars - Haven't played yet, love the music!

Avoid point&click, not because they would be bad but because there's almost no re-playability after you finish them.

As for what's on sale RIGHT NOW...

The Pits - Rouge-like... nuff said. $6 for everything except the new DLC
Tiny & big - 90% off...
Raptor - Good scrolling shooter as i recall, although i never got very far
Crimson Clover - TB did a video on this game... A good entry into Shoot-em-ups and bullet hell.
Humans must answer - Side scrolling shooter, humor based on chickens...

I think I will wait a bit more for Pillars to see how is going to be, but as far Ive seen the game looks lot promising as Divinity: Original Sin.

Thanks for posting!

I'm definitely interested in it as well, but personally I see no need to rush into buying it. I still have lots of other good RPGs to play (and I didn't even buy Original Sin yet). Besides, looks can be deceiving.

Anyway, keep in mind this is coming from a cheapskate who buys lots of games but usually at lower prices. If you're totally convinced you'll have enough fun with a game for a long time and you want to support the developers, there's nothing wrong with pre-ordering it at full price, I guess.

Do you find Pillars of Eternity tou pricy or it is just me?
Pillars is most likely going to be at least somewhat broken at release (like about every rpg lol), so no hurry there. I'll wait for a while and a couple of patches after release before playing myself.

Spiderweb games (Avernum etc.) are great as well as the KB games you listed. Great value for money there in my opinion, and should keep you occupied for a good while.

As a note i have a couple gift copies of some of those games on hand... (Sacred 1&2, Ring Runner), maybe agree to some future trade/promo which would save you a bit overall.

Forgot about those as i haven't played many, those will take you forever to finish...

See what I added to my post above. I hardly ever pay more than 20-30 euro for a game, so yeah, for me the pre-order price is not attractive, but then again that's just me, because I prefer to sample a lot of them and therefor I'm reluctant to spend so much on individual titles, especially knowing how quickly prices drop in this industry.
