I play a variety of game genres, but my favorite is war games -- specifically WWII (and yes, my interest was spawned by wanting to simulate and learn / experience history... not any real thirst for blood or conflict). While I've found a number of good military / war games on GOG, there are a number IMO that GOG's missing.

What military / war games do you wish would be brought to GOG?

Many thanks for any of your thoughts!

A second for The Great Escape and possibly also Colditz(it sounds familiar but I dunno what it's about anymore...bad memory/etc) :)
Some old SSI games: Great Naval Battles series (WW2 real time 1sec=1sec naval strategy), Fighting Steel (WW2 tactical naval sim), Age of Rifles (excellent turn based small unit game covering the imperial era), Soldiers at War (WW2 turn based tactical squad sim).

SSG: Carriers at War and games from their Decisive Battle series like Ardennes Offensive.

The Talonsoft games especially their Battleground series (especially their American Civil War games), also Age of Sail.

Some of the old Empire Interactive games like The Civil War and 101st Airborne in Normandy.

Yeah, I'd like to see the Battlefield games, but I just don't see EA doing that. Think I still have the first few on disc.

Would really be excited about Battlefield if there were bots in the games.

Well, close enough... Rainbow 6 are great games. Yeah, would be good to see them alongside the Swat games already here.

Ditto for: Ardennes Offensive and 101st Airborne in Normandy.

Ardennes Offensive: An accessible wargame that looked nicely. It limited stacks to 4 units per hexagon and showed them in the lower part of the screen.

101st in Normandy: Overal rather original. Clear difference between training missions and real missions (where all kind of chaos might happen starting from the jump). The game encouraged “make do” with what you had at hand. Planning for a resilient team that would “make do” even if some elements got lost was lots of fun. Also, in real missions not every unit member was available. Because that was one of the beauties of 101st: each soldier has definite traits and personality, and you get to know each by name (imagine the UFO series and preparing for missions, now imagine it improved by several orders of magnitude). You choose them and equip them to form your stick of paratroopers. The only con is that the flow of the turns was a bit slow, but it improved by using the numeric keyboard for giving commands. Also modern computer might run everything more fluently as well.

A game that deserves a place in GOG is The Ancient Art of War. Great engine, inspired by the key thoughts of Sun Tzu’s Art of War. The graphics are simple but serve their purpose. Easy to learn, but it will make you think if you want to master it. The gameplay holds up. Real time and very strategic.

About Age of Rifles, never tried it, but it had a good reputation. About Carriers at Wars, the theme is interesting, too.

I would love for there to be more US Civil War games on GOG. I remember playing tons of strategy and tactics games focused on the war or its battles when I was a kid but GOG only has a handful, and all the ones I know of GOG having are focused on the tactical level rather then the strategic level. And most or all of the US Civil War games GOG does have came out when I was an adult rather then when I was a kid. And there are some US Civil War games I found on Steam, either new games or remakes of one from my childhood that I would gladly buy again if GOG gets them.

And more Navy focused games. I can't believe the Harpoon series isn't here already. There are some other navy games that not being here is more understandable like the Age of Sail series, and Fleet Command but I would still buy them if they came here.

Also there was a tactics game, and maybe a series but if so I think I only played the first game, that I don't recall the name of focused on fighter jet battles. The one I recall had to be from the 90s because I'm sure I recall a scenario based off a battle between a flight of US Navy jets, and an Iraqi air force unit during the First Gulf War. And I also remember at least one battle from the Korean War, plus I think there was one based off the final battle of the movie Top Gun.

I would also love to have the rest of SSI's General franchise, the Perfect General series, and the Steel Panthers series plus GOG could always use more flight combat sims and sub combat sims.

And if I started listing every game based on fictional wars, especially science fiction wars, that I wished GOG would get I would be here all night.
Thought of a few more...

RUSE

BATTLESTRIKE (series)
COMMANDOS STRIKE FORCE (hey, I enjoyed it!)
PANZER ELITE ACTION
BATTLESTATIONS MIDWAY
BATTLESTATIONS PACIFIC
RUSH FOR BERLIN

Medal of Honor Airborne

[...]

Company of Heroes
Company of Heroes 2
Definitely these, as well as the old Battlefield games:

Battlefield 1942
Battlefield Vietman
Battefield 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2 (and maybe Battlefield Company can get ported to PC?)

and while they're at it, it would be nice to add in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 in the mix. I'm willing to wait for the recent 1 and 5 if EA at least releases the old ones. The DO have Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault here, it's time for some newer titles to join.
Graviteam tactics games with their achievements and all. I'm hungry for pausable tactical RTS but too broke post-winter sale to get Armored Brigade yet.
