Alone in the Dark?

No. However if The House of Da Vinci is the most similar in terms of gameplay, Alone in the Dark is the most similar in terms of overall atmosphere. The primary difference between this and Alone in the Dark is that this game doesn't have things running around trying to give you a game over, but that doesn't stop the game from being more than a bit unnerving when you're playing in a room by yourself late at night when you should be asleep in bed.

Another Clue: I just finished this game in about six hours. I did have to go AFK several times to feed the cat, but it isn't a long game. I think that actual gameplay without interruptions would be 3-4 hours.

Those tentacles looks very familiar, should be one of the Room games, prolly not 1st, either 2nd or 3rd. :p

Googling for "myst like games" and following a link to a ranking on thementalattic[dot]com I found an entry with a suspiciously similar house in its trailer. Are we perhaps looking for The Room: Old Sins?

Actually, you are correct! This is The Room: Old Sins. However The Room (series) and Myst are very different games, not even remotely like each other at all other than that nothing is trying to kill you off. Fans of one won't necessarily like the other.

Myst is all about exploring vast areas. The time that I tried it, allbeit quite briefly, I felt like I was playing a walking simulator with some puzzles tossed in just to give the player something to do. I got bored really fast.

The Room is entirely about manipulating intricate mechanical objects. The only game that is similar to it is The House of Da Vinci. The original The Room has been described as being a series of puzzle boxes while The Room 2 has been compared to room escape games.

No to all three, but the last guess sort of indicates the direction, the title in question is much more action-oriented and has little "management" in terms of industry. Can't show a new screen at the moment as mentioned, but to at least provide a hint: I'm looking for a fairly recent game that has spent most of its time being available in early access.
