amok: All guesses so far have been wrong, I think I need to draw your attention towards what is considered the more casual games
But it's not that Edgar Allan Poe-inspired game, is it? I remember some screenshots of an adventure game that was supposedly inspired by his works and it was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the screenshot but IIRC the style was totally different.

Edit: Just found out the title, The Dark Eye, but I'm pretty sure that that's not it, especially with your "casual" hint.

You are quite right, it is not it - and there is actually a bigger hint in there than the casual remark

Theatre of the Absurd?

ArturoGurrola: Theatre of the Absurd?
Sorry no. Maybe the screenshots have to much focus on theatre and music, however they are both only two of the puzzles.
I googled "Casual adventure game" and found it: Drawn: Dark Flight

Correct

The Drawn series of games are very nice. Should have more recognition... silly giving games this "casual" label.
Here goes this:

It's either Softporn Warrior or Softporn Warrior 2. Probably the first one on Amiga?

I do not think it is either of those, and the graphics looks very C64 so to me. I seem remember the screen layout, but cant remember what it was called...

Barbarian by Pysgnosis, the C64 version. And holy joint smoking drumstick eating bodybuilder was the Amiga version much better.

I mixed up the screenshots a little after digging for some, yeah it's not the Amiga version BUT this is the Atari ST version of Barbarian. Looks like the same game to me, just not the right system quite yet.

Oh, C64 version after all? The C64 screens I found didn't look quite like what Arturo posted. o_O

You linked to the wrong Barbarian game cover :)

these games are unrelated.

Barbarian - Psygnosis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarian_(Psygnosis)
Barbarian - Palace Software: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarian_(Palace_Software)

Both released the same year, though

Aaaaaah, yeah, wasn't aware of the fact that it's two completely different games. I knew that there were some weird screenshots of Barbarian which look nothing like what I have played (which would have been the Psygnosis game) but I assumed it was just very different versions, not completely different games. That explains a lot.
Some proof so as not to raise any objections about taking my turn.

That taken care of, here's a game that, as a kid, I always knew as "That game where you're a bug guy that shoots bees."

It is Insector X and the screen shows the final stage (5) before the ending
